]]>There are various nicknames for the Azores including the ‘Hawaii of Europe’ and the ‘island of colors’ which help to explain just how beautiful it is there. Sparkling turquoise waters surround the volcanic islands which are exploding with trees and plants to create the most vibrant mixture of colors and textures which are impossible to get bored of.
The hilly islands are ideal for trekking across to enjoy the unbelievable views and to feel completely one with nature. If you’re willing to hike out into the wilderness then you’ll be rewarded with secluded natural pools with thermal springs and waterfalls. You can simply sit and take in the serene area or take a plunge into the reviving waters.
As well as enjoying the wonders of nature, there are so many ways to simply rest and relax on the islands. There are plenty of idyllic coastal villages and hidden towns, where you’ll find super friendly people and some seriously delicious local food and drink.

]]>The nine islands of the archipelago are stunning monuments of nature and you should definitely visit them if you feel comfortable enough being in the middle of the Atlantic.
The islands offer many dramatic natural beauties such as a stunning coastline, vigorous waterfalls, and dreamy lakes that look like they’ve come straight out of a fairytale. If you aren’t afraid to walk a bit, the islands provide great hiking trails that will take your breath away with mesmerizing views of the beautiful island peaks.
Even though the islands are a tourist attraction, they’re not as popular as other tourist hotspots in Portugal or Europe, so you won’t have to wait in long queues anywhere or survive overcrowded streets and facilities at all. The locals are wonderful and famous for their friendliness and hospitality, so don’t hesitate to start a conversation with them or ask for any help you might need.
Last but not least, they have a great local cuisine – the best Atlantic seafood in the world!

]]>Located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the “Green Island” offers visitors a bounty of beautiful natural sights to see and unforgettable places to visit.
Here are the best things to do on a trip to the island of São Miguel.
The sulfuric volcanic waters of the island make the options to visit a hot spring numerous. One of the best hot springs to visit is Caldeira Velha, which is located inside of a rainforest.
Lagoa do Fogo is a lake located inside of a massive volcanic crater. It’s easy to walk from the road down to the lake’s beach as part of an exhilarating 90 minute round trip hike that you’ll never forget.
São Miguel is full of beautiful waterfalls, but my favorite has to be Salto do Prego. Located on a 4-kilometer loop trail is this stunning cascade that falls into a small swimming hole that you can take a dip in.
One must-do thing in the Azores is to find a viewpoint from which to admire the Lagoa das Sete Cidades. These two lakes have different colors and can best be marveled at from a spot like the Vista do Rei viewpoint.
