]]>Icelanders are known for their love of soaking in naturally warm waters, and the designers of Sky Lagoon sough to celebrate this old Norse bathing culture and fuse it with modern Nordic design. The resort sprawls across 5,000 square meters and features hot lagoons with infinity edges overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, cold plunge pools, a sauna, a cafe, a bar, and a turf house (one of those beautiful grass-covered cottages that Iceland and the Faroe Islands are known for).
The surroundings of Sky Lagoon are no less impressive than the facility itself—reefs, cliffs, and the open ocean can be seen from everywhere you look. The highlights of this breathtaking view are probably the old Snæfellsjökull glacier—a 700,000-year-old stratovolcano, and the Keilir mountain. If you’re lucky you may even spot a seal or two.

]]>Sky Lagoon, located in Kársnes Harbor, Kópavogur, Iceland, is an oceanfront geothermal retreat that will open in spring 2021. It’s amidst the Atlantic Ocean and the new lagoon hopes to “enable guests to connect with mind, body, and spirit through the radiant powers of geothermal waters while taking in such impressive ocean views.”
If that wasn’t enough, the retreat will have a one-of-a-kind swim-up-bar, a 70-meter infinity edge, and on-set dining. You’ll also get to see the amazing Northern Lights as well as the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Sky Lagoon will be operated by Pursuit, a hospitality company that’s known for their once in a lifetime, luxurious experiences in iconic destinations. There hasn’t been an exact date for when the lagoon will open.
