Parliament Hill

Parliament Hill is the symbol of Ottawa and more than three million people visit the attraction each year. ]]> Canada is home to many unusual hostels, and HI Ottawa Jail Hostel is one of its best. If you ever wondered what it’s like to spend a night behind bars, this hostel is just a place for you.

HI Ottawa Jail Hostel is situated inside a 150-year-old former jail, and its interior is a constant reminder of its past. You can spend a night in one of the real-life cells (including special solitary confinement cells), but they’re all quite cozy since they’ve been converted for comfort.

Its quirky décor isn’t the only thing this unusual hostel has in store. It also features an outdoor patio where you can relax with other guests, and a long list of fun indoor activities, including board games, books, and TV.

Dorm beds start at $25 per night, but the prices tend to be much higher during peak season. Guests can enjoy a free continental breakfast every morning, consisting of fruits, cereals, bagels, tea, coffee, and other breakfast essentials.
