Las Vegas, Nevada, is known around the world for gambling, shopping, entertainment, fine dining, and nightlife. While many people visit the City of Lights for these reasons, there are so many secret spots you have to check out. There are tons of hidden gems that you can visit and some of them won’t cost you a thing. Here are three of our favorites.

The Proposal Balcony at Tiffany & Co.

Located at The Shops at Crystals in CityCenter, is the two-level Tiffany & Co. If you’re planning on proposing with a Tiffany ring, call ahead to use their private proposal balcony. We can’t think of a better way to pop the question than while in The Marriage Capital of the World.

Akhob, an Immersive Art Installation in the Shops at Crystals

Another store at The Shops at Crystals, the Louis Vuitton store, and it has the Akhob. The Akhob is a permanent immersive art exhibition by James Turrell named after an ancient Egyptian word meaning “pure water”. There are two rooms with slowly changing colors, altering your perception of time and space.

The Underground Speakeasy at the Mob Museum

Most tourists know about the Mob Museum but what they don’t know about is the basement which has an underground speakeasy. Ring a bell and give a password to enter the museum’s Prohibition-era bar and working distillery. They have their own moonshine, which is found in cocktails like the Moonshine Mayhem.

Las Vegas’ younger sibling, Reno is known by its popular nickname “the biggest little city in the world”. Casinos and tourism are also booming in this city, but if you want to experience some culture during your visit, these three museums are a good place to start.

National Automobile Museum

Some of Reno’s most popular museums are weirdly specific, and that’s the case with this collection of over 200 vintage cars. Most of the vehicles on display were collected by the businessman William F. Harrah, and some of them once belonged to popular public figures, such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and John Wayne.

Nevada Museum of Art

Art lovers visiting Reno won’t be disappointed if they put this museum on their travel itinerary. Truly impressive both inside and out, the Nevada Museum of Art houses a collection of contemporary art and photography, with a special accent on environmentalism and the protection of nature.

The Discovery Museum

If you’re looking for a perfect museum to visit during a family trip to Reno, Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum is the place to be. This science and technology museum is best known for its interactive exhibits that people of all ages can enjoy.

Las Vegas, Nevada has something for everyone—there’s gambling, celebrity chef restaurants, shopping, and tons of entertainment. With so much to do, figuring out what’s worth your time and money on can be overwhelming and it’s easy to fall victim to tourist traps. Here are three mistakes to avoid next time you visit Sin City.

Betting on Games You’ve Never Played

When in the gambling capital of the U.S. it’s easy to get lost in the excitement and bet on games you’ve never played before. Make sure you bet on ones you know as well as ones that are fun. Keep in mind you’ll probably lose money.

Not Tipping

Tipping is a given, but in Vegas, it can mean the difference between an okay night and one to remember. Be sure to tip bartenders, valets, and cocktail servers and chances are they’ll know about ways to get sold-out tickets or fun events happening around the city.

Sleeping on Downtown

There’s more to Sin City than the Strip and downtown Vegas shouldn’t be missed. There are 12 casinos and you’ll be able to get more value for your money at restaurants and bars.

The Las Vegas Strip Isn’t in Las Vegas

While it’s called the Las Vegas Strip, the 4.2 mile stretch known for its resort hotels and casinos isn’t actually in Las Vegas. It’s south of the city in the towns of Paradise and Winchester.

There are About 150,000 Hotels

Due to the amount of tourists, there are about 150,000 Las Vegas hotel. Now that’s a lot of options!

Las Vegas Casinos Swap Competing Casino Chips

Most Las Vegas casinos will accept their competitors casino chips, which only happens in Nevada.

You Can Get Married Almost Anywhere

It turns out you can tie the knot almost anywhere in Vegas. Even breakfast food chain diner Denny’s has a wedding package that includes a wedding officiant, use of the diner’s chapel, a Champagne toast, two breakfasts, and a pancake wedding cake.

While Vegas is the self-proclaimed Gambling Capital of the World, you won’t find Powerball or scratch tickets as they’re prohibited in Nevada.

If you’re looking for that “extra something” while staying at a hotel, you have to check out Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno, Nevada. The hotel located at 255 N Virginia St Reno, NV 89501, features 310 guest rooms with panoramic views of the Sierra’s and it’s a 45-minute-drive to Lake Tahoe.

The hotel is Reno’s first and only non-gaming, non-smoking, and independently owned boutique property. The biggest attraction at this hotel is the artificial climbing wall, called Basecamp, which happens to be the Guinness Book of World Records’ “World’s Tallest Artificial Climbing Wall”.

The 164-foot wall stretches up the east side of the Whitney Peak Hotel and it’s adjacent to the historic Reno Arch.  It also features the only IFSC-certified 15-meter speed wall in the U.S. and a 7,000-square-foot indoor bouldering park with a separate area for younger climbers.

“The wall was built to help foster and provide a new face for Reno’s outdoor enthusiast community,” said Brian Sweeney, Basecamp manager.

Basecamp is currently running during regular business hours, but with capacity limits, and enhanced cleaning measures to follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and proper sanitation.

The hotel prides itself on creating unqique stays and they’ll customize packages for guests to help them celebrate whatever occasions bring them to Reno. In the past, they’ve recreated the Hangover scene for a Bachelorette party and decorated a guest’s room with pictures of Nicolas Cage for a fan who loved the actor.

Some of the upgrades include a Spooked Up Halloween Package, Romance, Celebration, Bed & Breakfast, Bubbles, and Bathtub of Beers. To see more about the hotel including the upgrades check out their website.

Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps with a reputation of being the center of the gambling world, has everything that you could desire. The famous slogan ‘’whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’’ is enough to make you want to go and spice things up. But there are many other reasons why one should visit this city at least once.

One reason is the delicious food. The world’s top chefs are here and you’ll find all kinds of food from mouthwatering fast foods to high-end cuisine.

You can’t visit Las Vegas without visiting the Strip, a six-kilometer-long thoroughfare, where you’ll find all kinds of entertainment, world-famous hotels and dozens of casinos.

Perhaps the top reason for visiting Las Vegas is that it’s near to national parks like Zion National Park in Utah, Death Valley National Park, Red Rock Canyon, Grand Canyon, and Lake Mead, so you can easily reach these gorgeous places.

If you want to find out more about how Las Vegas became the Sin City we know today, you can visit the Neon Museum.

And of course, you can try your luck and gamble a little, but be careful because this city was designed to make you get carried away!
