Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a big city that will easily distract you with everything you can do and see there. Before you let that happen, make sure to check out its best tourist attractions first.

Petronas Towers and KLCC Park

Petronas Towers held the title of the world’s tallest building until 2004, standing at 1,483 feet. Despite being overtaken by multiple buildings since then, this pair of skyscrapers still remains an astonishing sight. After you finish marveling at them, use the opportunity to explore the surrounding KLCC Park, which represents a unique blend of nature with man-made forms.

Jalan Alor

There is no better place to get food in Kuala Lumpur than Jalan Alor. This famous food street, which was once a red-light district, offers some of the most delicious dishes in this part of the world for cheap. Even if you are not too hungry, you’ll enjoy exploring its corners, food joints, and street food stalls.

National Museum

Kuala Lumpur’s National Museum is worth visiting because you’ll get a better sense of Malaysian history and culture. The museum contains a diverse collection that includes artworks, traditional weapons, historical apparel, and various other objects of cultural and historical importance.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is usually considered a budget destination for travelers. While it may cost you more to get there, the cheap accommodation and food will more than makeup for it. Additionally, there are more than a few ways to reduce your travel expenses further. Check them out.

Use Public Transportation or Grab

Taxis are notoriously expensive in Kuala Lumpur, especially for tourists. Public transportation, although sometimes crowded and unreliable, is the cheapest way to get around the city. Another good alternative is the ride-sharing service Grab, which is similar to Uber and significantly more affordable than taxis.

Eat More Street Food

Street food in Kuala Lumpur is not only the cheapest way to keep yourself well-fed but arguably also the tastiest. The city’s streets are full of food carts and vendors who are offering delicious eats for a fraction of the price you would pay at a restaurant.

Take Advantage of Free Tourist Attractions

Kuala Lumpur is a city known for offering an abundance of free tourist attractions. Visit to most of its temples comes with free admission while offering an unforgettable experience in both architectural and cultural exploration. You can also enjoy a relaxing day at some of Kuala Lumpur’s impressive green spaces, like KLCC Park, or spend hours going through exhibitions at Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery.

Bring a Reusable Water Bottle

It can get really hot and humid in Kuala Lumpur, so you will need to drink a lot of water. Considering that tap water isn’t drinkable and buying bottled water all the time will damage your budget, the best way to go about it is to bring a reusable water bottle with you. There are drinking fountains across the city and nearby popular tourist attractions, so you can fill it up for free and stay hydrated for free.

If you have a special place in your heart for modern architecture, Kuala Lumpur will leave you speechless. Breathtaking skyscrapers can be found on every corner of the Malaysian capital, and here are three epic towers that this bustling city wouldn’t be the same without.

Petronas Towers

If we had to pick a single architectural gem that comes to mind when someone mentions Kuala Lumpur, it would be Petronas Towers. One of the symbols of modern Malaysia, this also happens to be the highest building in the entire country, and you shouldn’t miss its sky bridge and observation deck while exploring it.

Telekom Tower

Telekom Tower is far less touristy than most other skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, but that doesn’t make it any less spectacular. It mostly serves as an office building, but its design is truly innovative and its main goal was to inspire energy saving.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

Another symbol of modern Kuala Lumpur, this tower is one of the city’s must-see spots. Most people visiting it are here to enjoy scenic views of the city and check out the revolving restaurant it has in store. If you’re lucky enough, you might visit Kuala Lumpur just in time for the annual race up the stairs to the top of this iconic building.

Kuala Lumpur is a magnificent city and yet few people stay long enough to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. From tall skyscrapers to hidden markets and cheap eats, Malaysia’s thriving capital has everything you could possibly ask for from a city.

The trouble is, the hustle and bustle from the city can get overwhelming at times. This is why Dreamville Hostel is the perfect choice for travelers looking for home-away-from-home in Kuala Lumpur.

Not convinced? Here are five more reasons why you should choose Dreamville for your Kuala Lumpur stay.

The Decor is Adorable

From giant dream-catchers to motivating art and cute pot plants, the interior at Dreamville is Tumblr heaven. It is exactly how we wanted our university digs to be, only it’s actually clean.

There Are Cats

Yup, you read that right. Dreamville has one up on a cat cafe because the kitties actually snuggle up to guests and are super friendly too.

It’s Near the City (But Still Quiet)

Dreamville is a two-minute walk from the MRT, which will get you to the city center in less than 15 minutes. It also only costs 2 Ringgit, which is roughly 48 cents. Basically, you can access all the best attractions then escape to a quiet location after.

There’s a Kitchen

Yes, Malaysian food is cheap but does anyone else miss cooking? Finishing the day off with instant noodles and Netflix is a home comfort that we never thought we’d miss in Southeast Asia. Communal meals are always a win too.

The Staff is Awesome

The best hostels always have the best staff. These are people that go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable and know everything you need to know about navigating the city. And this is crucial because there’s so much to do in the cultural and colorful capital of Malaysia. At Dreamville, the staff does everything they can to make sure you get the most out of your stay. And that’s what makes them awesome.
