Stunning ancient temples can be found in pretty much every Asian country, and Indonesia is no different. This country will wow you with some of the largest and most beautiful temples in the entire world, and here are three that you shouldn’t miss during your visit.

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple is one of Indonesia’s most popular tourist attractions and the first ancient temple most tourists visit in this country. With nine stacked platforms, an imposing central dome, and around 500 Buddha statues scattered around it, this temple has been holding the title of the world’s largest Buddhist temple since the 7th century.

Prambanan Temple

Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple was built in the honor of the deity of Trimūrti and it has been around since the 8th century. You’ll stumble upon a towering central building and hundreds of smaller temples on its grounds, and they’re all amazing in their own right.

Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu may not be large and imposing like the previous two temples, but don’t let trick you into thinking it’s not amazing. This temple is best known for its dramatic location on the top of a high cliff and it offers some amazing ocean views that make it worth the trip.

When it comes to island destinations Bali, Indonesia is right up there with Aruba, Bora Bora, Jamaica, Turks & Caicos, and the Dominican Republic. Known for its forested volcanic mountains, rice paddies, coral reefs, and beaches, Bali has it all. It’s also known for its religious sites and yoga and meditation retreats. Regardless of the reason you choose to visit the island, you won’t be disappointed. Here’s everything you need to know for your next Bali vacation.

Best Time to Visit

Between April and October are the best times to visit since it’s during the island’s dry season. The island only experiences the rainy season and the dry season. The temperatures remain between the mid-80s and low 90s throughout the year.

How to Get Around

To have freedom to explore the country and not the stress of driving in a foreign country, we suggest hiring a car and driver. You can also bike, but you’ll have to navigate around the heavy traffic. To get around neighboring islands, you’re best bet is by boat.

Where to Stay

Capella Ubud- Bali

Located in the lush forests, this 5-star hotel features a tented camp surrounded by nature. Capella Ubud- Bali is much more than a hotel, it’s hidden and it’s perfect for those who want to be in nature, but still want lavish amenities. There are only twenty-four rooms and they all have private saltwater pools. Even the on-site restaurant is influenced by its jungle surroundings.

Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate & Spa

This 5-star hotel is an exclusive sanctuary that’s spread across a coconut grove surrounded by palm trees. The design of the 20 villas is inspired by the island’s tropical environment and it features indigenous materials like local stone and hardwoods. The hotel is just minutes from a beach and within walking distance of seafood cafes and there’s an onsite restaurant.

Kelapa Retreat & Spa

Kelapa Retreat & Spa, a 5-star boutique hotel, has villas within the tropical ground and they have beach, garden, or ocean views with each one has its own private swimming pool. There’s a spa, yoga and meditation instructors, and a restaurant a few meters from the beach.

What to Do

Uluwatu Temple

This isolated sanctuary is situated on a cliff and the architecture is to die for. Look out for the waves, just 200-some feet below. Not only is the sanctuary popular with tourists and locals, monkeys love it as well and they may even steal some of your possessions!

Kuta

Bali’s most popular beach town is full of bars, stores, restaurants, spas, and a water park. The biggest attraction is the beach which has sandy shores, perfect for surfers, sunbathers, kite-flyers, and swimmers.

Kintamani

If you’re looking for something besides the beach, Kintamani has a towering and active volcano and a large lake. Don’t miss one of Bali’s most important temples, Pura Ulun Danu Batur.

What to Eat

Babi Guling

One of Bali’s most famous dishes is Babi guling, or turning pig. It’s pig that’s been hand turned on an open fire and it’s really tender and crispy.

Bebek Betutu

This smoked duck dish is rubbed and stuffed with a mix of spices and then cooked in banana leaves. Many restaurants require a day’s notice for this dish because cooking takes around 12 hours.

Sate

Sate is a popular street food in Bali and it’s strips of chicken, pork, beef, goat, rabbit, or tofu placed on skewers and grilled over a hot flame. It’s served with many sauces on the side, with peanut and shrimp paste-based sauces being the most common.

There’s no denying that the most popular destination in Indonesia for a beach holiday is Bali. But Lombok is a great option, too, especially if you’re interested in someplace slightly off the beaten path, with fewer crowds and less commercialization. Just like Bali, Lombok is full of gorgeous beaches and great wildlife. So go ahead and read on to find out all the reasons why you should consider visiting Lombok.

The Waterfalls

Are you a fan of stunning natural views? Of course, you are, who isn’t? Well, Lombok is known for having many gorgeous waterfalls. The most famous is Tiu Kelep, located right in the middle of a beautiful emerald jungle. It’s about a 45-minute walk to get there (the walk itself is beautiful) and the 45 meter, misty waterfall at the end, with a pool you can swim in at the base, is just breathtaking.

The Snorkeling

If you enjoy snorkeling, Lombok is a must-visit location. There are plenty of different beaches where you can snorkel, with so much interesting marine life like coral reefs and colorful fish that you can gaze at while enjoying the warm waters.

The Hot Springs

No jacuzzi can compare with the natural hot springs on Mount Rinjani, the main mountain on Lombok, where Air Kalak Hot Springs can help you relax and soothe away any aches or pains, with its naturally medicinal high volcanic mineral content.

Ubud’s Bali Swing is often hailed as one of the most Instagram-friendly spots in the entire world, and if you don’t have countless amazing photos by the end of your visit—it’s like you were never there. Make sure your photos are as magical as you want them to be with these useful tips.

Dress to Impress

Your outfit can make or break your Bali Swing photo. If you don’t have a beautiful, flowy dress to wear for the occasion, you can rent one on the spot. Go with lighter colors that will truly stand out in the pictures.

Prepare to Pay

There are many picture-perfect swings in Bali, but if you want to check out the official Bali Swing, get ready to break the bank. If you want the full experience, including rides on several different swings and nests, get ready to pay $35 for the entrance. It’s best to have company because you’ll have to pay extra if you want in-house photographers to take your pictures.

Perfect Timing

The official Bali Swing is one of those places that’s always crowded, but the earlier you get there, the better. Be there at opening hour and you’ll have enough time to explore everything without dealing with too much pressure as other people wait to get on the swings.

Indonesia’s Orchid Forest Cikole, 45 minutes from Bandung, holds the largest collection of orchids in the whole country. It’s also a home to a long wooden bridge that’s lighted with soft yellow lights, which makes the experience of walking through the forest at night truly magical.

The beautiful orchids bloom in white, pink, purple, and other shades. They are a reason enough to visit this magical forest, but if you need another one, the illuminated bridge is definitely it. It’s 492 feet long and hangs 75 feet above a valley. It may look scary at first, but within minutes you will feel welcome and very cozy.

The forest is perfect for taking amazing photos as the bridge provides beautiful views that change as you walk. The forest feels enchanted and you’ll feel like the main character from a fairytale if you only spend one evening at this magical place.

Isn’t it amazing how every corner of the world hides something uniquely beautiful? Indonesia is no exception, and this forest is just one of many great things you can see if you visit the country.

Jakarta is such a unique capital and such a fascinating place to visit. There are so many different influences based on the history of the city in terms of colonization and the current residents and immigrants. Jakarta was established in the 4th century and was once central to the Hindu kingdom. Going to Jakarta is like being in a thousand places at the same time, but it all comes together in one amazing city that you need to put on your bucket list.

What to Do

Since Jakarta was colonized by the Dutch, you can see their architectural influence within the city. This is most prominent in the Old Town or Kota Tua. There are many colonial-style government and trade buildings that were once used for business and now have been re-purposed into museums and other fun activities to do.

Jakarta has always had a significant Chinese population, and visiting the Chinatown or Glodok neighborhood is a very interesting way to learn about the culture. It was the Dutch who actually created this neighborhood for the ethnic Chinese folks, and you can now find there amazing Chinese food, as well as gorgeous temples like Dharma Bhakti, which is the oldest and was built in the mid 17th century.

Since Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world, it’s only natural to take advantage of the location and go to some fabulous beaches. There are many different islands you can travel to from Jakarta, depending on how much time you have, but if you only want to go for the day, one of the best is Bidadari Island. Allow yourself to relax and see some of the most incredible blue waters of your life.

Indonesia has such a rich history, it’s really worth taking some time to understand it. To do this, go to the National Museum of Indonesia where you will see artifacts from prehistoric times that really tell the story of the country through art and other relics. The National Gallery museum is also within the same area as the museum and showcases famous historical and modern artists, so it’s nice to visit both and compare the ancient to comtemporary.

Just across from the museum is the National Monument, which is an important reminder to the people and country of the power of liberation. It was constructed to commemorate Indonesian independence after so many years of colonization.

Nightlife and Food

If you want to taste some real authentic Indonesian food in a feast like setting, go to Lara Djonggrang. This restaurant not only serves traditional food like you’ve never seen before, but the interior of the restaurant is decorated in artifacts and unique treasures from Indonesia.

Jakarta is all about the nightlife, and if you love to dance, you have to hit up the club Fable. It’s super popular with the locals and has amazing local DJs that really step up the party.

If you’re in the mood to get some fresh air and be on an amazing rooftop, go to the bar BART. BART has the best cocktails with the best view, and there’s always an awesome DJ spinning great music.

Indonesia is famous for its lush vegetation, beautiful landscapes, and fresh atmosphere. But what if you could enjoy all of that from the steaming comfort of a natural hot spring?

"Acceptance is all about seeing reality, seeing things as they actually are, not as we hope or wish them to be. And from that place of total alignment with what is, all creative, loving, and intelligent action flows naturally." Jeff Foster I have to admit that I was a bit scared to make online classes before, because I'm not very good with technology at all. Actually, it's getting a lot of fun to learn all of these new things, to play with the camera, editing videos, looking into how I could improve them, and the best part, seeing everyone PRACTICING and CONNECTING form all over the world. 🌎 This makes me sooooo happy and content. 💓 Yes, a lot of patience is required in the process as I always see something I could improve or make it better. My perfectionist side still comes up sometimes. But at the end, it's all about a learning process… 👉Lesson about all of this online videos story: ACCEPTEANCE is always the key!! I realize it doesn't have to be always perfect videos, but what is important is the intention behind, and my intention is to SHARE, TO SERVE, TO HELP PEOPLE to find their centers and to stay connected within ourselves and to come back home to their 💓 ⚡GREAT NEWS!! ⚡I'm planning to share more, online classes, programs, videos and even workshops for this time of isolation.
