While you may think that you have found the best hotel for your trip, there are certain small details about your stay that can enhance or detract from your vacation experience. Here are some secret hotel hacks you should know in order to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Go to the Top Floor

If there are multiple rooms in the hotel still available when you book, then try to get a room on the top floor. This is because it’s quieter at the top as nobody will be walking around above you. What’s more, there is a smaller chance of strangers walking past your room to get to theirs.

Check for Upgrades

Once you get to your hotel, ask reception if there’s a possibility to get a free room upgrade. If there is a room available, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to be allowed to stay there at no extra charge. After all, the worst that can happen is that they say no, so it’s worthwhile asking.

Ask About Extended Stay Discounts

Are you enjoying your vacation so much that you’d like to extend your stay? Ask your hotel if they offer an extended stay discount. Many hotels offer special deals for those who stay for a long enough period of time, so this kind of package can save you a significant amount of money.

One of the most common places for travelers to stay while they’re away is hotels, and it makes sense why. They’re incredibly convenient, they’re everywhere, and a lot of the time they feel safer than doing something like couch surfing. But the truth is that even hotels can have their dangers, which is why it’s important to familiarize yourself with a few key hotel safety tips before you stay in them, especially if you’re alone.

Don’t Stay on the Ground Floor or Top Floor

Whenever you can, request a room that isn’t on your hotel’s lowest or highest floor. The lowest floors are too easily accessible from the street while the highest leave you no place to go if there is an intruder making their way up the floors.

Inspect Your Room

When you get into your room, give it a thorough once-over, making sure that all of the window and door locks work and that there isn’t anything suspicious, like a nanny cam, to be found. If anything seems questionable, speak to the hotel staff.

Keep It Locked

This one may seem obvious, but as long as you’re in your room, keep all of the locks including the deadbolt locked, and by no means open your door to strangers.

Once you figure out where you want to visit, the next step is finding the perfect hotel to stay at. Hotels can make or break your vacation and with so many to choose between, it can be overwhelming to figure out which is best for you. Next time you book hotels, here’s what you should keep in mind to get the best hotel room.

Know What’s Important to You

Before you even look for hotels online, make a list of what’s important to you. That could be free breakfast, a good night’s sleep, a room with a view, a pool, or a gym. Then you can narrow down your options based on filters, which makes finding what you want much easier.

Determine the Hotel’s Exact Location

When it comes to traveling, location is really important as you want to be within close distance of the city’s attractions. Go beyond the website’s description which may say attractions are easy to reach, but sometimes they mean they’re close to a bus or metro. Before booking, check a map to see the exact location of the hotel and if there are attractions, dining, and shopping nearby.

Read Reviews

It’s always a good idea to read reviews on Google, Booking.com, or TripAdvisor, but when you do, make sure they’re from the past year or so. In addition to reviews, look for pictures from guests to get a better idea of the property.

When booking a hotel stay, the price that we think about is usually the one that we see online when we select the room. However, a hotel stay can easily turn expensive even if you think you’ve gotten a good deal when searching if you do the wrong things upon arrival.

These tips will help ensure that your hotel stay doesn’t become unnecessarily expensive.

Don’t Pay for Parking

Most hotels these days, especially those found in cities, charge amounts that are often exorbitant for on-site parking. Unless it’s impossible to find another, more economical place to park nearby, it’s usually better to find street parking or garage parking that isn’t located on the premises.

Pay in Advance

It’s always cheaper to pay in advance for your hotel stay instead of doing so upon arrival. Why? Hotels offer lower rates for those who are willing to pay the full amount upon booking because it provides them with more security. Be careful, though, as this payment is usually non-refundable.

Sign Up for Free WiFi

Most chain hotels these days offer free WiFi, but with a catch. You usually have to sign up for the hotel’s loyalty program in order to have access to free internet through your stay. This is always free to do, so there’s no harm in signing up in order to be able to browse the web without any additional cost added on.

You’ll also be able to see photos and learn all about the hotels’ amenities in order to make an informed decision. On top of all that, they even have a booking engine to help you find the best prices.

Kayak

Kayak is the top option for finding the best deal on a hotel room. This website’s powerful search engine allows you to filter by stars, price, cancellation policy, rating, and even more so that you can stay in the hotel which works best for you.

Google

Google Hotels is relatively new but is also a top choice when searching for a hotel to book. The service shows where hotels are located and what transportation options will be for getting from place to place during your stay

Raise your hand if you can’t wait to travel somewhere! With the whole world being affected by the coronavirus pandemic, traveling is just one of the things we’re unable to do right now. Until the situation gets better, here’s how to give your home a luxury hotel vibe.

Bed Upgrade

You can recreate the feeling of sleeping in a cozy hotel bed by upgrading the pillows and sheets. There are so many amazing things you can get that will completely change the way you sleep, and the best of all is that you won’t have to leave it all in a few weeks.

Bathroom Spa

Turn getting ready into your favorite time of the day by redecorating your bathroom and getting some details that will provide the spa feeling. If you have a bathtub, you know what to do. There’s no reason not to enjoy a warm bubble bath whenever you get the chance.

Breakfast in Bed

One of our favorite parts of the hotel experience is getting breakfast in the room. Luckily, you can easily recreate this at home. Get a nice tray and pick your favorite breakfast food, then return to the bed and enjoy it for as long as you want!

Are you an aviation lover who longs for the days of mid-century luxury travel? If so, you absolutely must visit the TWA Hotel located right next to New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

This hotel, which is a popular choice for travelers flying into or out of New York’s most important international airport, is set in the former TWA Flight Center that once operated as the once-massive airline’s terminal at the New York flight hub.

Now, the hotel has been remodeled and refurbished into a chic hotel that keeps alive the luxury essence of travel in the 1960s, many years after the airline’s heyday and two decades after it went out of business

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9XQRhSl9eL/

The bar, check-in counter, and lobby have all been maintained in the style of the terminal during the 1960s. Sweeping windows give unmatched views of the active terminals at JFK Airport, giving aviation geeks a second-to-none look at the airport and its operations.

Hotel staff even wear uniforms inspired by the airplane cabin crews’ former outfits.

In short, if you are heading in or out of John F. Kennedy and you’re looking for a way to please the inner aviation lover that most of us have, the TWA Hotel is an obligatory must-visit.

Your vacation is over and it’s about time to check out from the hotel. Did you ever think about ways to make sure you’re doing it the right way? There are some unwritten rules that you should follow before leaving your hotel room. Here are some of them.

Check for Personal Things

Check the bathroom, the dresser, and under the bed before you get out because some of your stuff may still be there. Once you’re out and on your way, it may be impossible to get them back.

Pack the Charger

Make a mental note when you pack a phone charger, because losing it and letting your phone die may be a big inconvenience during travel. If you’re like most people, you probably rely on your phone for so many things and you definitely don’t want to leave your charger behind.

Make the Bed

Straighten up the sheets and make sure you’re not leaving the mess behind you. It’s a decent thing to do and won’t take you more than five minutes.
