Though it does have some French words in the name, this restaurant is named after Macon, Georgia, the inspiration for this refined southern restaurant.

The menu is almost all classic southern fare like biscuits, fried okra, deviled eggs, and everything is cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. One of their best dishes is the chicken and waffles with sticky, crispy chicken, a soft, fluffy waffle, that join forces to create an incredible bite.

This is said to be the oldest soul food restaurant in the world and has been open since 1944. Whether that’s the truth or not, there’s no denying that the Florida Avenue Grill is a haven for southern comfort food.

The ingredients are so artfully prepared, and flavor combinations are super unique to people who’ve never had food from the Yucatan region of Mexico.
