The market offers a wide variety of flowerpots, seedlings, flowers, and more. While most sellers grow the flowers themselves, there are also florists who import goods from all over the world.

This is a lesser-known site of the city and doesn’t star on the average tourist map, but it is a unique site for both people-watching and feeling the atmosphere. So if this is your second or third time in London, this market will give you a glimpse of the real and less touristy London.

This is a stunning attraction that every tourist based in East London during the weekend should check out. Admission to the market is free, and the road to it passes through one of London’s stunning and authentic neighborhoods. Access by public transport to the market is convenient and fast, even from the city center.

The flower market is surrounded by restaurants and cafes, where you can relax after visiting the market and enjoy real English tea and hot pastries.

]]> Ashikaga Flower Park is a famous park in Japan, but not for cherry blossoms that we typically associate with the country. Instead, it’s famous for wisteria flowers, also known as fuji. They grow on tall frames so the blossoms are all around you when you enter the park. It looks absolutely stunning during the day, but the lighting also makes it beautiful by night.

The park is open all year long during the daytime. The winter lighting works from 3:30 to 9 p.m. so if you visit the place from October to February you get to enjoy it in this lovely setting.

April and May represent the peak season when the flowers are in full bloom. Around Christmas, the park becomes the place where people gather to watch light shows that are especially interesting for couples. The landscape also includes other flowers like tulips, roses, and tropical water lilies that all bloom during their own seasons.

You can easily spend a whole day in Ashikaga Flower Park as it offers various snacks and gift shops.

These special flowers originate in the Himalayas and are considered the national flower of Bhutan. Bhutan is a generally peaceful country in Asia and this flower represents their culture well. The blue in the Himalayan Blue Poppy flowers comes from a natural pigment called delphinidin and it creates a blue color due to its acidic conditions inside the plant.

Blue poppies need to thrive in a nutrient-dense soil with slight shading. It won’t thrive in direct sunlight ad you can simply grow one by digging a hole of about 18 by 18 inches mixing various soils and fine bark mulch.

This flower thrives in the Himalayas because the climate is generally cool and breezy even during the summer. This flower needs the right conditions to grow and when it spurts, it blossoms into a waterfall of blue hues.

Royal Botanic Gardens, England

Kew, England is home to one of the most fabulous indoors botanical gardens in the world, and is, in fact, the largest botanical gardens in the world. With more than 30,000 types of plants within the greenhouses, you will never find a collection like that anywhere else in the world! One of the greenhouses are even listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is only one of three with that title in the world.

In the world of fast fashion and week-long trends it’s nice to find the odd piece that lasts in your wardrobe season after season. This dress, one of my first @chicwish pieces, is such an item, that comes out for sizzling summer holidays, early shoot mornings, romantic date nights, and everything in between. A little white dress is timeless and versatile (which is why my wardrobe is heaving with them!). What’s your absolute wardrobe staple? Oh, and a #BTS on the shot: we got to Kew for opening but there were still long queues for the orchid festival, as it’s only open for a couple of weeks and is super popular. @stephyttravels and I were dodging school parties and groups of tourists to get this shot, it took a lot of patience (and earned us a lot of confused stares) but was worth it. One of my faves!

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa has another botanical garden listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well! The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is especially different because there are only native plants in the garden, which is really special.

The final floral scene from my visit to Kirstenbosch: a showy nine-pin heath (Erica mammosa) against the picture-perfect view of Castle Rock and Window Buttress. Endemic to the sandy flats and lower mountain slopes of South Africa's Western Cape province, this robust and celebrated plant – one of approximately 860 species in its genus – displays an extremely wide variation in flower colour, including numerous shades of pink (like the bubblegum-coloured form seen here) as well as red, purple and white. ]]> From mid-March to mid-April every year DC’s parks and streets get decorated with pink as cherry blossom trees bloom throughout the city. Not only is there an explosion of color but a festival occurs throughout the blooming season.

Local businesses, museums, and parks host events, especially at the beginning of the cherry blossom season. There is a Cherry Blossom opening ceremony that happens annually to celebrate the tree and springtime. Many other events follow, such as a kite festival and a parade.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is a way for travelers and DC natives alike to celebrate the season and the city. The festival attracts visitors from all around the world and is also a time that local businesses thrive and give back to the community.

Many parks have events based on the beautiful tree, for example, Petalpalooza takes place on the Wharf which is the southwest waterfront in DC. Petalpalooza includes food, live music and games throughout the day with a spectacular firework show over the water at night. The Cherry Blossom Festival is a great time to visit DC and the events cater to all ages.  Quick tip: the flowers are especially beautiful to view while walking through the sculpture garden next to the National Gallery.

]]> From mid-March to mid-April every year DC’s parks and streets get decorated with pink as cherry blossom trees bloom throughout the city. Not only is there an explosion of color but a festival occurs throughout the blooming season.

Local businesses, museums, and parks host events, especially at the beginning of the cherry blossom season. There is a Cherry Blossom opening ceremony that happens annually to celebrate the tree and springtime. Many other events follow, such as a kite festival and a parade.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is a way for travelers and DC natives alike to celebrate the season and the city. The festival attracts visitors from all around the world and is also a time that local businesses thrive and give back to the community.

Many parks have events based on the beautiful tree, for example, Petalpalooza takes place on the Wharf which is the southwest waterfront in DC. Petalpalooza includes food, live music and games throughout the day with a spectacular firework show over the water at night. The Cherry Blossom Festival is a great time to visit DC and the events cater to all ages.  Quick tip: the flowers are especially beautiful to view while walking through the sculpture garden next to the National Gallery.
