]]>From a logical perspective, it makes all the sense in the world. We want what we can’t have, and therefore people have wanted to travel more than ever over the last year. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if a major travel boom is on its way. It’s unclear when COVID-19 will be less of a threat than it is now, but if it ever dies down—flight bookings will skyrocket like never before.
It’s not just the classic backpackers who will leave their homes the moment they get a chance. We believe that those who normally hate traveling will be converted to hardcore travelers because of this pandemic. Without any capabilities of leaving their home for months on end, who wouldn’t want to finally go somewhere? Indeed, we may see more backpackers than ever emerge over the next few years.

]]>Well, they basically had two options. Go home or wait it out, and nobody knew how long Coronavirus was going to last. But now, over a year later, with vaccines allowing the world to open up again, digital nomads find themselves in an entirely new scenario.
On the one hand, there are more remote work options than ever, as the Coronavirus pandemic proved to companies that an employee doesn’t have to be physically present in the office in order to do their job.
On the other hand, traveling hasn’t gotten much easier than it was in the height of the pandemic, with constantly changing policies about planes, hotels, vaccines, green passports confusing us and possible Coronavirus variants looming over us as a constant fear.
So what can digital nomads do? Get vaccinated, keep proper documentation, and become experts on different countries’ travel regulations. But taking advantage of more remote work opportunities is a must for somebody truly committed to the digital nomad lifestyle.

]]>To this day, most of the world’s countries are not letting in international travelers for leisure vacations, and it might seem like this situation will never end. But will it, soon?
Vaccinations in most of the developed world are being administered and distributed at a rapid rate. Experts point to the immunity generated by vaccinations as the most key step for our world regaining something similar to normalcy and reaching herd immunity.
The moment at which herd immunity is reached, which will come accompanied by a lower caseload and hospitalization rates, is the most likely stepping stone for the re-opening of countries and the return of international travel.
So, when might this happen? Most developed nations are aiming to finish the vaccination of a large majority of their populations at some point between this summer and this fall. This means that, if things go well, much of the world may open up by the time fall or winter 2021 comes around. Summer is unlikely, but looking just a few months later, there is hope on the horizon.
However, keep in mind that not all travel destinations are in the developed world and that this may force them to wait until they get their hands on enough vaccinations to keep their own populations safe. We will just have to wait and see.
It seems as if our long travel nightmare might be finally coming to an end, so start thinking about where your dreams might take you.

]]>The new passport will allow travel within the European Union. It will state if the holder has been vaccinated or got a negative Covid-19 test recently. Other information it will have includes the recovery process of those who have contracted the virus. The current plan is to develop the necessary infrastructure by summer.
How will it work? Every hospital, testing center, and other health institutions will be assigned a unique digital signature. The system will allow for all the signatures to be verified everywhere in the EU.
All EU states will accept the new certificate and the holders will be exempted from the travel restrictions.
What about privacy issues? “It will respect data protection, security, and privacy,” said European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen. “The Digital Green Pass should facilitate Europeans’ lives. The aim is to gradually enable them to move safely in the European Union or abroad—for work or tourism.”

]]>International travelers have been able to get to the Maldives since July 2020, with a negative Covid-19 test as the only condition. It’s possible to get picked randomly for a PCR test once you arrive at the airport.
U.S. citizens traveling to the UAE receive tourist visas as they arrive at the airport. A negative PCR test is mandatory, though, as well as international medical travel insurance.
Similar conditions apply when traveling to Turkey. The arriving travelers are screened for Covid and they need proof that they are Covid-19 negative not older than 72 hours.
Other Asian countries that are open to travelers from the U.S. include Nepal, Jordan, South Korea, Bangladesh, and Cambodia.

]]>Here are some things you should have on hand at all times while flying.
The amount of common surfaces you’ll touch while in a plane and in airports is considerable, and you’ll want to sanitize your hands with an alcohol-based solution after touching them. This will kill almost all germs that might end up on your hands and possibly infecting you.
Flying with a mask is mandatory almost everywhere on Earth now, but not all masks are equal. Don’t opt for a simple bandana or plastic shield, which allows plenty of germs in. Instead, opt for a quality cloth mask, a surgical mask, or an N95 mask, all of which offer higher levels of protection.
While it might be tempting to just settle into your flight routine while on a plane, it’s important to take sanitizing wipes with you to take care of any germs that flight cleanup crews might not have been able to get to. This will allow you to feel comfortable when touching in-flight entertainment systems, tray tables, and the like.
