]]>The World’s Monuments Fund decided that 2020 would be the perfect year for the grand opening because its the 600th anniversary of the Forbidden City. The Qianlong Garden will be restored with the help of Selldorf Architects alongside a special visitor’s center.
The private Qianlong Garden was originally built sometime between 1771 and 1776 and its primary use was as a retreat for the fourth emperor of the Qing Dynasty, one of the most extravagant dynasties from imperial China. The emperor has also planned to turn it into his retirement complex, also known as the Palace of Tranquil Longevity, after his 60-year reign. With 27 pavilions and structures spread across the two acres, this is one of the most significant sites in the Forbidden City.
This project will definitely tickle the fantasies of every history lover and travel enthusiast, not only for the enormous historical significance but also for the fact that it has never been open to the eyes of the public before.
