Bangkok is a bustling city with a rich culture. If you are planning on visiting Thailand’s capital, these are the key neighborhoods to explore on your trip.

Chinatown

China Town begins at Yaowarat Road and stretches out to become the home of Bangkok’s Chinese community. Here, you will find authentic Chinese cuisine among a colorful array of food stalls. You will also find the giant Golden Buddha statue, located at Wat Traimit.

Banglamphu

Banglamphu is the neighborhood of the infamous Khao San Road. This is where backpackers flock to drink cocktail fish bowls, eat dried scorpions on skewers, and interact with Bangkok’s most eccentric nightlife. You will be hard-pushed to find another neighborhood like it.

Ko Rattanakosin

Ko Rattanakosin is the royal district. It is home to some of Thailand’s most impressive temples, including the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. It is here that you will find the spectacular Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Exploring Ko Rattanakosin is an essential part of any trip to Bangkok. It is also a great place to catch a boat across the Chao Phraya River.

Bangkok is an amazing city to visit in Thailand. However, it isn’t necessarily always the safest city, so you do have to be careful. If you’re traveling by yourself or are just a little nervous regardless, here are some neighborhoods where you can definitely feel safe in.

Banglamphu

Banglamphu is a major tourist area since there are a ton of popular attractions to visit like the Grand Palace, the Giant Swing, and more. During the day it’s great to visit there, and even at night, the scene is pretty cool and definitely safe for tourists!

Sukhumvit

Sukhumvit is one of the best areas in Bangkok for going out as there is a bumping nightlife there. This is one of the safer areas if you want to go to a bar or club, but just beware that the side streets aren’t as clean or nice, though they’re not dangerous.

Pratunam

This area of Bangkok has a really 24-hour market that you can’t miss out on! Also, since it’s always full of people, you know that it’s a safe place to be. There’s also a large police presence there so you can feel reassured by that as well.
