Abu Dhabi has recently launched new desert driving routes designed to make the most of the dune-sculpted deserts outside the city. Previously, the best way to experience the famous Emirates desert was to join a tour with an experienced 4WD off-road driver. The new roads, however, are designed for all levels of driving experience.

Each road is ranked by difficulty and marked with interesting stops along the way, such as sightseeing points and wildlife areas, including places to spot camels and gazelles. The shortest route takes around four hours to drive through, but the longest could take two days to complete. For the adventurous ones who want to see the largest sand dunes in the country on the longer route, there are designated spots to set an overnight camp.

For safety, drivers should travel in a convoy of at least three vehicles. Local tour operators offer desert driving courses for those without prior experience, and every group is provided with a safety checklist and instructions. Essential items to pack include plenty of food and water, a first aid kit, and a spare tire.

Whichever route you decide to take, the breathtaking desert views are bound to leave you speechless in the best way possible.

Paris is the first place that comes to mind when someone mentions the Louvre, but it’s not the only city in the world with a museum that has this name. Abu Dhabi is home to its own Louvre Museum, but they’re two entirely separate museums with their own vision and identity.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi may not be as iconic as the original, but it’s an important cultural institution in this corner of the world. It’s the largest art museum in the Arabian peninsula, and its main mission is to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western art by showcasing art from all around the world.

This impressive museum covers 24,000 square meters with 35,000 works of art on its premises. The building itself was designed by the famed architect Jean Nouvel before opening its doors to visitors in 2017. The museum is instantly recognizable thanks to its huge, silvery dome composed of 7,850 stars, which appears to be floating above the rest of the museum city.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is easily accessible because it’s the main attraction of the Saadiyat Island Cultural District. It’s open to visitors between 10 am and 6:30 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, and you should make sure to book the tickets in advance and set aside at least two hours for exploration.

There’s no greater feeling than right before a massive drop on a roller coaster. You get ready to raise your hands and scream at the top of your lungs, knowing full well that your mind is about to get blown. The world is filled with hundreds of amazing roller coasters, but which ones are the scariest?

Time Traveler | Silver Dollar City

Located in Silver Dollar City, Missouri, Time Traveler is thrilling for reasons that have less to do with speed, and more to do with wildness. Each car spins wildly as it journeys through crazy drops, a vertical loop, and a steep 100-foot peak.

Takabisha | Fuji-Q Highland theme park

Japan is famous for lots of things, and roller coasters should be added to that list. Takabisha, a roller coaster that can be found in Fujiyoshida’s Fuji-Q Highland theme park, is known for terrifying its riders senseless. After it elevates you so high that you can see the marvelous Mount Fuji, you’re then turned on a 121-degree angle and dropped mercilessly.

Kingda Ka | Six Flags

Kingda Ka, located in New Jersey’s Six Flags Great Adventure, currently holds the title for the tallest roller coaster in the world, elevating to a startling peak of 456 feet. If that’s not enough, it has the longest initial drop in the world as well, which is known to give its riders a real thrill.

Formula Rossa | Ferrari World

If you happen to find yourself in Abu Dhabi, check out Ferrari World, where you can board Formula Rossa. True to its home’s title, this roller coaster is the fastest in the world, hitting 149 miles per hour at one point.
