Here’s Why You Should Make Sardinia Your Next Vacation Destination

Sardinia is a stunning island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, south of the island of Corsica and east of Rome. It is popular with tourists, but perhaps less so than its famous cousin Sicily. Here are three reasons why Sardinia should make the top of the list for your next island getaway.

The Beaches

All islands have beaches, but Sardinia’s are extra special. The rocky coastline makes some of them hard to reach, but if you make the effort and hire a boat (or hike the strenuous coastal paths), then you will have miles of pristine white sand pretty much to yourself. The water is warm and clear, and several spots around the island are ideal for snorkeling.

Go Caving

If you’re a fan of an active holiday, Sardinia is the place for you. As well as swimming, snorkeling, and hiking, the island is great for caving. Visit the famous Neptune’s Grotto at low tide, or Nereo Cave, the largest marine cave in the Meditteranean.

Eat Like a Local

How does the freshest seafood, olives, tomatoes, bread, olive oil, and cheese sound? In Sardinia, you can eat like a king every day, as the island prioritizes delicious, healthy, fresh food. Like everywhere in Italy, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating pasta, pizza, and risotto, but make sure you check out the island’s regional seafood dishes, too.
