The Transportation Security Administration, TSA, just released winter travel tips to help Americans fly over the holiday season during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of us haven’t flown in months, which can make traveling during this stressful time even more stressful. These tips will make traveling safer and more efficient during the holiday rush.

Tip 1: Download the Free MyTSA App

Before heading to the airport, download the app to be sure of what you can and can’t bring, information on flight delays, and where to find TSA PreCheck lanes.

Tip 2: Enroll in TSA PreCheck

The PreCheck program will help travelers get through security quicker and create fewer touchpoints because participants won’t have to remove liquids or electronics from their bags or remove their shoes, belts, and jackets.

Tip 3: Don’t Wrap Gifts

Instead of wrapping gifts, put them in gift bags because if they set off alarms, they will have to be unwrapped to see what the package contains.

Tip 4: Don’t Forget Your Mask

Like other things in the country, masks are required in airports and airlines. While you may be asked to remove your mask quickly so officers can verify your identity, expect to social distance while waiting in lines.

Tip 5: Pack the Essentials

In addition to masks, other essentials include hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. You can also bring up to 12 ounces of hand sanitizer, but all other liquids are still limited to 3.4 ounces. Make sure you also come with extra masks.
