Have you ever heard of Seychelles before? An African country consisting of over 100 islands in the Indian Ocean, this nation might have fewer than 100,000 residents but offers a bevy of tourist destinations and a remote tropical paradise to visitors.

But Seychelles aren’t only Mahe Island!

Accessible via boat and plane, the other 114 Seychelles islands offer up a bevy of opportunities to travelers as well. Coral reef scuba diving, remote beaches, fishing, and boating are some of the best options that you’ll find on islands like Curieuse, Fregate, and La Digue.

If you’ve never heard of Barbados before, it’s high time to start learning about all of the things that this beautiful Caribbean island has to offer.

Located in the Lesser Antilles in the warm and tranquil Caribbean Sea, this island of fewer than 300,000 habitants offers travelers a tropical paradise that doesn’t have the crowds of many other destinations in the region.

Barbados was a British colony for hundreds of years, and the mark that British occupation left on its culture is palpable. Sports such as cricket and traditions like afternoon tea remain popular in Barbados. Tourists can definitely participate in these traditions during their stay on the island.

The island also has a strong musical tradition. Did you know, for example, that superstar singer Rihanna hails from the island?

Barbados’ main attraction, however, are its beaches and resorts.

As an island nation, Barbados is chock-full of pristine white sand beaches. One of the most popular things for tourists to do on the island is simply visit a resort and relax in the sand.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BvkYfLslFw4/

Top beaches to visit in Barbados include Bathsheba, which is a natural, virgin beach located far from mass tourism. Another great beach to visit is Crane Beach, a beautiful wonder.

Visit Barbados as soon as you can!

While cities in Colombia such as Medellin and Bogota might have more name recognition, the Caribbean city of Cartagena is a destination that will show you a whole new side of this South American country.

Cartagena is located on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, which gives the city a warm and tropical climate, as well as stunning beaches. But Cartagena isn’t just sun and fun–it also has a fascinating history and is full of colonial architectural gems.

The center of Cartagena’s old town is walled, which protected the city from pirates and invaders during colonial times. The charming old town has a variety of beautiful colonial-era buildings as well as shops, restaurants, churches, and hotels.

Also located in Cartagena is the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, a beautiful 17th century castle and fortress located near the downtown area. Visitors can explore the tunnels and fortifications that protected Spanish military and royalty in the past here.

Cartagena isn’t just about its history, however. It is also home to some of South America’s most stunning beaches. Located a 45-minute ferry ride from Cartagena is Tierra Bomba, an island that has picturesque white sand beaches.

The Seychelles is a country off of the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. The country is composed of an archipelago that consists of 115 islands.

Although it is a small country that has fewer than 100,000 residents, what The Seychelles lacks in population, it makes up with tranquility and beautiful beaches.

Almost all visitors that visit The Seychelles must first fly into the principal island, Mahe. Here, there is an international airport as well as the country’s capital of Victoria.

Despite being the most populated island, Mahe is still very tranquil and has picture-perfect white sand beaches. One of the most popular beach destinations on the island is Grand Anse Beach, which looks too perfect to be true.

The Seychelles has other, more remote islands that can also be visited via a boat ride. The island of La Digue has one of the most picturesque beaches in the world, the Anse Source d’Argent Beach.

Praslin is the other biggest standout island in The Seychelles. It possesses a beautiful tropical rainforest as well as palm tree-lined beaches that look like something out of a fantasy.

The Seychelles should be near the top of your African travel list. Go if you can!
