Breeze and Happy Snail are two highly affordably hostels in a great location. They are walking distance from China Town and Little India and will set you back far less per night than if you stay in a hotel.
While restaurants may appear expensive, it is actually possible to get cheap and delicious food in Singapore. Some of the restaurants in Little India are fantastic and there’s plenty of food stalls about offering cheap dumplings and fast Asian dishes.
Instead of paying $20+ to visit the botanical gardens, head to Gardens by the Bay at night for a spectacular free light show. It’s one of the most unique activities you can do in the city and it won’t cost you a dime.
Nature doesn’t cost a thing and believe it or not, the buzzing city of Singapore actually has some wonderful hiking trails. The MacRitchie trail is one of them and includes a beautiful treetop walk where you may spy monkeys and tree snakes if you are lucky.
If you want to save money, use Grab instead of taxis. It’s cheaper and you won’t risk getting ripped off as you will agree on a price before you set off. Better still, get the metro. Prices are far more reasonable than back at home.
