]]>The Glowing Beach is located on Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives. Much like other Maldives islands, this tropical heaven rocks warm vibes; but it also boasts a beach that lights up like a dream.
What’s the deal with Vaadhoo Island’s fabulous glow? It’s all thanks to some cool chemistry with bioluminescent plankton. These tiny things turn the beach into a glittering galaxy of stars.
But how come you don’t find this cosmic glow just anywhere in the Maldives? Well, it’s a strategic move by the plankton. When predators roll in, the plankton pulls its glow trick to defend itself. They light up, exposing the invaders to the watchful eyes of other marine life and visitors partaking in water activities.
If you’re a fan of unique beach vacays, the Glowing Beach should really be on your list. Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit.

]]>The medieval city is known for its canals and cobbled alleys, but it’s unfortunately sinking year after year, and if you want to visit it, you better hurry. The city is only a 3.3-foot rise in sea levels away from being underwater. It’s scary to even think about it.
The Maldives is considered a paradise on Earth, but the islands are under a big threat from sinking. The ocean levels are constantly rising, and we can’t help but wonder how long will the Maldives stand up to nature.
The majestic mausoleum is one of the most iconic structures in the world, and over four million people come to see it every year. Erosion and air pollution are real threats that could make it sink toward the Yamuna River at one point. There are even plans to close the Taj Mahal to the public in order to slow down this process.

]]>The Maldives, an island country located in the Indian Ocean, plays hosts to a restaurant that no dinner will ever forget.
At Ithaa, diners dine under the water. That’s right: at this restaurant, you are seated in a dining room under the sea, where your meal is served to you as you observe the blue water and marine life swimming around you.
If you travel to Rangall Island in the Maldives, you might have the opportunity to have a meal at this one-of-a-kind restaurant.
Opened in 2005, Ithaa was the first ever restaurant of its kind. At the end of a jetty, diners descend a spiral staircase into the underwater capsule that hosts the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant.
Here, diners are treated to a fine dining experience with cuisine inspired by both Asian and European influences. While the food is highly-rated and certainly looks delicious, it comes at a high price tag. Dinner at the restaurant currently costs about $400 per person.
What do you think? Would you have a meal with the sharks at this surreal restaurant?
