If you’re looking for a unique travel idea, why not visit some of the smallest countries in the world? Don’t worry, these pint-sized countries may be tiny in landmass, but they have an abundance of history, culture, and charm. Here are three of the smallest countries to add to your list.

Vatican City

Located within the heart of Rome, Vatican City holds the title of the smallest independent state globally, covering just over 100 acres. Yet this minuscule country is the spiritual center of the Roman Catholic Church. Here you’ll find iconic landmarks like St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, home to Michelangelo’s awe-inspiring masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Monaco

Known for its glitz, glamor, and opulent lifestyle, Monaco is a microstate located on the French Riviera. Although it covers less than one square mile, this principality is world-famous for its luxurious hotels, upscale boutiques, and the world-renowned Monte Carlo Casino.

Nauru

Located in the Pacific Ocean, Nauru holds the title of the world’s smallest island nation. This remote island is a wonderful place for an off-the-beaten-path adventure. Nauru’s rugged coastline, secluded beaches, and vibrant marine life make it a haven for explorers and nature lovers.

There are over 200 countries in the world, but today we are going to tell you about the tiniest ones and assure you that size really doesn’t matter.

Palau

The Republic of Palau is an island country composed of 300 islands of different sizes. Palau is one of the most amazing places on Earth – its rainforests are full of unique plants and birds and its waters are inhabited by 130 endangered sharks. But the most unique thing in this country is the lake that has more than 2 million jellyfish in it, which in time have lost the ability to sting!

Niue

Niue is another small island state with beautiful landscapes. But despite this, tourism is not very popular here, so the country relies heavily on foreign aid, most notably from New Zealand. The capital is just a small village with a population of 600 people. The island has its own airport and supermarket, the only one in the country.

Visit this country for the remarkable beaches, and snorkeling.

Nauru

This is the smallest independent republic and the smallest state on the planet. Nauru has no capital and no transport system, so the entire population moves around the country in their own vehicles.

Visit Command Ridge, a beautiful peak with WWII artifacts.
