Located in the metropolitan area of Perth, Fremantle is one of its can’t-miss areas, and its arts center is one of the must-visit spots in this neighborhood. Located inside an Australian Gothic complex built by convicts, Fremantle Arts Centre now offers exhibitions, art courses, and live music to its visitors.

Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts

If you have a soft spot for contemporary art, you shouldn’t miss this spot in Perth. It’s best known for displaying contemporary Australian and global art, but you can also attend dance and theater performances or visit a lively café on its premises.

The Western Australia Museum is a deep dive into local history and culture in one of the most unknown and underappreciated parts of Australia. Currently closed while being renovated and improved, the Western Australia Museum is set to open its doors in the coming months as Perth’s premier museum.

Fremantle Prison

Just outside of Perth in the suburb of Fremantle is a World Heritage Site which showcases one of the strangest parts of Australia’s past. The island was once used as a penal colony for British prisoners, and the Fremantle Prison was one of the biggest in existence. Now it’s a museum and parts of its former cell blocks can be visited.

The Nostalgia Box

Video game lovers have to stop at the Nostalgia Box while in Perth, as it is a living and breathing ode to the history of the games and consoles which we have all grown up with. Showcasing nearly every console in existence and putting numerous classic games on exhibition to play, the Nostalgia Box is a unique and worthwhile place to visit in Perth.
