The largest and most famous lake in New Hampshire is called Lake Winnipesaukee. It encompasses over 70 square miles of space, has lots of bays, and it’s such a fun lake to visit. There are so many little towns that are all around the lake, and there are even certain restaurants and little ice cream shops that you can get to on a boat because they have lots of dock space!

Pawtuckaway Lake is a small lake, sometimes even called Pawtuckaway Pond, but it’s still definitely a place that’s worthy of a visit. If you love canoeing, this is the lake for you! Even if you’re not a super water lover, there are plenty of things to do on land around the lake because it’s located within the Pawtuckaway State Park.

If you want to go to the lake just to kick back and relax, Lake Sunapee is the lake for you. There are 7 beaches with lovely sand to visit along the shoreline, perfect for sitting back, reading a book, or taking a little swim and then a nap.

With the leaves changing colors and falling off, and the weather getting cooler, fall is a beautiful time of year. Although it’s a sign that winter is coming, it gives us one more chance to enjoy nature before the snow and cold temperatures come in.

New England is one of the best places in the world to see fall foliage every year, and its close proximity to the Northeast makes it very accessible.

While New England is made up of 6 states, Vermont and New Hampshire are the two states that have the best foliage.

Vermont is known as the Green Mountain State because of the famous Green Mountain Forest located in the southwest corner of the state. If you are driving up north through Route 7, you can get a good view of the mountains and trees and there are lots of great places to stop off for pictures. The town of Bennington has Revolutionary War history along with a great museum and an old New England town feel.

Further north is the town of Manchester. There are tours of Robert Lincoln’s mansion, including a display of one of only 3 known top hats that belonged to his father, Abe Lincoln. Sterling Pond Trail and Stowe Pinnacle are two of the best hikes in Vermont

Crossing east into New Hampshire is the famous White Mountains. Knows as the “Presidential Range” named after many famous presidents, these are some of the best hikes to see foliage in all of North America. Mt. Washington is the highest peak and most hiked, but other mountains such as Lincoln, Madison, and Jefferson offer breathtaking views as well.

Don’t miss this magical trip in historic New England, the foliage peak only lasts a couple of weeks!
