While on lease, the houses had to be painted white, however, when the slaves were allowed to buy the properties, they colored them bright as a meaning of freedom.

In the summer, the temperature does not go above 30 and usually stays in the mid-20s. However, the winters can be wet, but even on the coldest days the thermometer do not shows temperatures below the mid-teens.
