With its white sandy beaches, holy temples, and exquisite palaces, Thailand is sure to provide a holistic getaway in the far east. Still, even with all of these sights and sounds, no visit to Thailand is complete without a visit to its crown jewel, Bangkok, where you’ll be sure to find the most scrumptious cuisine that the country has to offer. Here are some of the best outdoor food markets where you can shop and dine like a local!

Nang Loeng Market

Over 120 years old, the Nang Loeng Market was Thailand’s first land market. This iconic open-air market is located in the heart of Bangkok’s Old Town, home to historic temples, ruins, and museums. Nang Loeng Market is an ideal place to find traditional street food dishes such as Vietnamese banh xeo crepes, sai krok pla name (rice sausage eaten with dried fish crumbs and wrapped in lettuce), and green curry, all while breathing in ancient sites from Bangkok’s past.

This market is open from 08:00 until 15:00 except for Sunday when it remains open until 17:00.

Khao San Road

If you’re in the mood for some late-night feasting while out on the town, then Khao San Road is sure to have all the food you could hope to indulge in. Filled with bars, hotels, and stores, this street comes to life once the sun goes down and all of the street food vendors come out to play. Whether you’re looking for a hearty Pad Thai or something sweet such as banana pancakes and fruit shakes, Khao San Road is sure to have something to tickle your tastebuds.

Khlong Toei Market

If you’re looking for an authentic, local food market experience, then Khlong Toei is the Bangkok market for you! This sprawling market is filled with street vendors offering an extensive array of goods, ranging from freshly-delivered fruits and vegetables to cooked traditional Thai dishes. What’s more, it’s open 24 hours, making it easy to fit in with your schedule.

Potsdam is the beautiful, picturesque capital of Brandenburg. Just a short train ride from the vibrant capital of Berlin, you will reach a small, romantic city, full of castles and lakes. Here are things you can do there in one day.

Potsdam’s main street, Friedrich-Ebert Strasse, and the small streets that branch off from it offer plenty of luxury shops, restaurants, and cafés.

From there, you can continue to the main point of interest in the city, Sanssouci Park and Schloss Sanssouci, where the famous Sanssouci palace is located. The palace and the park around it are surrounded by spectacular trees, flowers, and gardens.

After that, head over to the Dutch Quarter and see its unique architecture. In the district, there are many shops, cafes, restaurants, and a farmers market where farmers from the area sell fresh and organic goods.

Movie buffs will be happy to visit the Babelsberg district. Potsdam is considered one of the largest film industry centers in Europe. The Babelsberg district houses the Babelsberg Studios, which opened in 1911. In the nearby park, you can enjoy a variety of attractions from the world of cinema that are suitable for the whole family.

One of the best things to do when visiting Paris is to take a stroll in the markets and mix with the locals. Here are some ideas for different types of markets to visit when spending time in the City of Lights:

Food Markets

We all know that locals know best, and this is especially true when it comes to food. One of the less-visited markets by tourists is not very far from the Eiffel Tower, so visit Marché Saxe-Breteuil right before lunchtime, and sit down for lunch under one of the world’s most famous towers!

Flower Markets

One of the most famous flower markets in the world is the Marché aux Fleurs Reine Elizabeth II. Not far from Notre-Dame, this is a year-round green spot, with stalls selling bouquets, plants, accessories, and ornaments. On Sunday, the market transforms into a Bird Market.

Second-hand Market

We wouldn’t be doing our job if we gave you the name of the most popular markets, as it is known that second-hand markets are all about the hidden treasures. Not a hidden or small spot is the Marché aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves. Almost 400 stalls selling clothing, furniture, and more.
