We’re operating under the assumption that you’re not going to be gigging wherever you’re traveling. If you were, then bringing your instrument would be a no-brainer. However, even if you’re not gigging, you might still have the intention of frequently playing your instrument wherever you go. If so, that would be a great reason to bring it, but if you’re only going to play it once or twice, it’s probably not a good move.
Finally, the last thing you must ask yourself is how valuable your instrument is. We’re talking market-wise, and also from your personal perspective. If your heart would be broken if something bad happened to it, then it might be a better idea to avoid taking it with you.
