You get two types of vacation: one where you rush around trying to fit in as much as you can, and one where you prefer to just lie back and relax. If opting for the latter, chances are high that you would like a hotel room with a great view. Here’s how to ensure you get one.

Brush Up on Terminology

“Ocean view” and “oceanfront” may sound the same, but they are not. Ocean view means that, yes, you will be able to see some of the sea from your window. How much, however, is up for debate… In contrast, an oceanfront room is facing the water head-on.

Money Talks

At the end of the day, nice things usually come with a price tag… Taking a look at the price of the room you’re booking is a good indicator for what you will be getting. Expect an oceanfront room to cost more than an ocean view.

Pick Up the Phone

If you are still unsure about which room to reserve, we recommend calling the hotel itself. After all, no one knows the rooms better than them. Explain what kind of room you’re looking for, and, you never know, sometimes they even have special deals.

Whether you travel for work or are on vacation and are sick of eating out, you can actually make amazing meals in your hotel with no equipment necessary!

While you do need some materials like bowls and a knife, you can usually get that from the front desk or even just buy them at a cheap store, which will still cost less than a meal out!

Salmon

You can actually make salmon if you have a hot water kettle or even a coffee pot! Just boil water and pour it into a bowl, or use the pot of the coffee maker if that’s all you have, put the salmon in, and leave it to poach until the salmon turns pink!

Couscous

Couscous is a great grain that’s super versatile and tastes great cold or hot. Just boil water again, pour it over the couscous and cover it with a plate or towel for 10 minutes until it’s absorbed. Serve with raw or cooked veggies and enjoy!

Rice Noodles

Rice noodles are great because they also only need to be soaked, but take even less time to make than couscous! Just pour hot water over them for a few minutes, drain the excess, and use in a salad or other noodle dishes!

There are always people who are a little obsessed with germs in hotel rooms, but at long last, they’ve been avenged. Multiple studies have now proven that hotel rooms are usually a lot dirtier than what meets the eye, and here are some of the dirtiest parts by far.

Bedspread

The bedspread in a hotel room should be one of the first things that you take off the shove into the corner. Bedspreads are usually only washed on average about 4 times a year, which is pretty disgusting. Although not to worry, your sheets do get changed so all you need to do is take them off and you’re fine.

The Remote

The remote to the TV is also one of the dirtiest parts of the room, because so many people use it and it doesn’t normally get cleaned by the hotel. An easy fix for this is to simply bring along some wipes so you can give it a quick swipe before you sit back and relax.

Pillowcases

This last one might be the grossest, and the saddest. Not every hotel chain requires their staff to change out pillow cases before a new guest comes, which means that you can be sleeping on someone else’s pillow. In that case, bring your own so you don’t have to deal with that mess.
