Guangzhou is one of China’s largest and most populous cities, but did you know it’s also a suitable destination for family trips? Many of its most popular kid-friendly attractions are a part of the Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort, and these three are the biggest hit with the tourists.

Chimelong Paradise

No kid-friendly attraction is complete without an amazing amusement park, and Guangzhou has this one in store. Chimelong Paradise is one of the largest amusement parks in China and home to some of the country’s wildest rollercoasters, including the 10 Inversion Roller Coaster.

Chimelong Safari Park

The Guangzhou Zoo is an obvious tourist attraction for families visiting this city, but it’s not the first that comes to mind. Chimelong Safari Park is even more popular with tourists and it offers a series of wildlife-themed experiences, such as feeding giraffes, riding elephants, or simply being around other exotic animals in the park.

Chimelong Water Park

Another popular kid-friendly attraction created by the Chimelong Group comes in the form of this water park. This sprawling aquatic recreation center covers 450 acres, filled with all the colorful slides and tubing rides that your heart desires.

Guangzhou is one of the largest cities in China, located about 100 miles from Hong Kong, but including the metropolitan area, it is actually the largest by population. Most people don’t Guangzhou and what there is to do, but it’s actually a great place to visit, even if you have kids in tow. There is amazing food, a thriving art scene, and lots of natural beauty to explore; really something to do for everyone.

What to Do

To get a feel for the newer additions to the city, visit Huacheng Square, which is home to places like the Guangdong Museum, not to be confused with the Guangdong Museum of Art . This museum displays traditional Cantonese art, along with historical artifacts and other cultural items. The square is also home to the International Finance Center and more.

Just across the river from the square is the famous Canton Tower, which was the tallest tower in the world for 3 years, though it is still the second tallest tower. Inside you will find shops and cafes, but the sheer height matched with the building being fully lit up at night is something you can’t miss seeing.

If you want to check out some contemporary art, head over to Redtory. This was an area of the city that used to be full of industrial buildings and factories but has recently been transformed into gallery spaces, cafes, and the stores.

If you want to tap into some serenity during your trip, you have to see the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. This Buddhist temple is actually in the heart of the city, which really gives the whole place a tranquil vibe. The temple was built in 537 AD, and you’ll find that no matter how many visitors are there, it is really quiet, so make sure to stay respectful during your visit.

If you happen to be in Guangzhou with your family or just need a break from site seeing yourself, you have to head over to the Chimelong Tourist Resort, also known as Chimelong Paradise. This park is full of rides, a water park, an aquarium, and more! It’s the perfect place to chill out and really just have some fun.

If your idea of fun and escape is more in terms of nature, you can hike up the Baiyun Mountain and get some really stellar views of the city and the surrounding nature. If you want the views but not the soreness, there’s also a cable car that can take you up there.

Dining and Nightlife

For a surefire way to get some traditional Cantonese food, head no further than the Guangzhou Restaurant. There you’ll find many options like dim sum, fried pork, traditional soups, and more.

If you’re someone who loves the nightlife and doesn’t mind an adventure, check out the bar Hope & Sesame, which is a speakeasy bar serving up a classic 1920’s prohibition vibe. Once you actually find it, you can sip on some truly amazing cocktails while listening to smooth jazz music.
