What is your first move when visiting a new city or country? Do you like to check out the local museums, sample the local cuisine, or go sight-seeing to the most notable attractions that your destination has to offer?

It’s undeniable that there are tons of things for travelers to do when visiting a new place, but for those of us who love eating, cooking, and exploring local gastronomy, there’s a new travel trend that’s a must: cooking classes.

Over the past few years, more and more companies and private individuals have set up experiences for visitors that place them in the middle of a kitchen, learning to make local foods and exploring the local cuisine.

Normally, a local chef or a normal individual who loves cooking hosts these experiences, showing off how to make the food that they have grown up preparing and eating. The stories told and the expertise shared will make memories that will last a lifetime.

Whether it’s learning to make couscous in Morocco, learning to perfectly craft sushi in Tokyo, or learning the secrets of mole sauce in Oaxaca, Mexico, these experiences will provide you something that you can use in the future and that you will never forget.

Be sure to check out the local cooking experiences the next time you go on vacation to a new place!

Have you ever felt like eating your way around the world?

While there are lots of great things to do and sights to see while traveling, sometimes, the best thing to do is simply eat! All of the peoples and regions of the Earth have a huge variety of cuisines that can be experienced by travelers.

One of the travel foodies that have inspired us recently has been Anne, a Dutch blogger that has traveled to over 60 different countries in search of the best bites to eat.

In addition to her blog, Anne also maintains an Instagram account (@anne_travel_foodie), where she posts pictures of the best bites to eat that she’s had on her travels, as well as at home!

We loved this shot of one of Anne’s breakfasts on a trip to Crete. It perfectly shows off how harmonious eating and travel can be.

In addition to her posts about food, you can also find shots of the cities to which she travels from time to time. And trust us, there are plenty of places to check out on her page!

Be sure to give Anne a follow if you love traveling and food as much as we do.

Did you know that there is a small Indian state by the name of Goa that has some of the most beautiful landscapes and beaches in the entire country?

If you didn’t, welcome to your introduction to Goa, which is a destination that should demand our attention for several reasons.

Goa is located on the western coast of India. It has a spectacular coastline on the Indian Ocean which offers visitors with a fantastic panorama of sand and warm water. It is also unique culturally due to its heritage as a Portuguese colony, which lasted until 1961.

One of the best beaches in Goa is called Palolem Beach if you’re looking for a peaceful escape. It is known for its pleasant environment, clean sand, and proximity to nature.

Also located in Goa is another natural wonder called Dudhsagar Falls. This massive, four-tiered waterfall is located on the Mandovi River in the interior of Goa. It is known as the “milky falls” due to the way the 600 m cascade takes on the appearance of milk during its fall.

Visitors to Goa can also explore the Portuguese colonial heritage of the state. This is evident when visiting the 16th century Basilica de Bom Jesus, a stunning Baroque cathedral located in Old Goa.

Finally, don’t forget to try Goan cuisine if your travels take you there. One of the standouts of the cuisine is the mixture of seafood and curry, which is exemplified in the fish curry dish that is made with coconut milk. Yum!

The capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, might not be a city that you’ve ever heard of. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t ample reason to travel to Bishkek and to enjoy all of the city’s intriguing offerings.

Located just to the north of the imposing Tian Shan mountain range that dominates most of Kyrgyzstan, the city can be used as a gateway for visiting this natural area. But, the city in itself also deserves mention as a unique and quirky destination.

Bishkek has been inhabited since only around 1825, when it was established as a trading center on the Silk Road. The long period of Soviet rule means that the city’s architecture and design prominently feature ideas that dominated during the era of the Soviet Union.

As we mentioned, Soviet themes dominate Bishkek, and one of the top things to see in the city is the Ala-Too Square, which was built in 1984 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Soviet Republic.

This square includes the State Historical Museum, which chronicles the city and country’s history and features a large statue of Vladimir Lenin.

Also, in Bishkek, be sure to check out the Osh Bazaar, a place where goods and food are traded and sold. Here, you can sample Kyrgyz dishes like steamed dumplings called manty which are stuffed with meat and onions.

It’s truly a fantastic option for travelers looking for an off-the-beaten path destination.
