When it comes to Egyptian ancient temples, Luxor certainly takes center stage, but the magic of the country’s ancient wonders extends far beyond its borders. Awe-inspiring temples are scattered all around this African country, and these three will take you on a captivating journey to ancient times.

Abu Simbel Temple

Located near the border with Sudan, Abu Simbel Temples was commissioned by Ramses II, and it was actually relocated here from Aswan Dam. It consists of two temples carved into solid rock, and it’s a timeless testament to the greatness of ancient Egyptian architecture.

Temple of Kom Ombo

Safely tucked away on the banks of the Nile River, the Kom Ombo Temple is a constant reminder of the Roman influences on Egyptian architecture. This isn’t the only thing that sets Kom Ombo apart – this temple is also one of the rare few dedicated to two gods – the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus.

Edfu Temple

Speaking of Horus, Edfu is certainly the finest temple built in his honor. It’s one of the best-preserved Ptolemaic temples in Africa and it offers a remarkable glimpse into the sacred rituals and beliefs of the past through intricate carvings and ancient hieroglyphs on its walls.

Hurghada, Egypt, is a popular beach resort located on the shores of the Red Sea. It is popular among vacationers around the world for its affordability, great beaches, and great weather year-round. But at what time of the year should you visit? Find out below.

Best Weather: Spring and Fall

No matter at what time of the year you go to Hurghada, you’ll probably be able to sunbathe and swim. However, if you are looking for the best weather, then book your stay during spring or fall. This is when the temperatures are almost perfect, allowing you to enjoy all water activities without unbearable heat.

Cheapest Flights and Accommodation: Winter

If you are looking for bargain deals, then consider traveling during the winter months. This is when the flights to Hurghada are usually the cheapest while the accommodation prices drop. The temperatures drop to mid-70F, but you’ll still be able to have a quality vacation.

Most Fun: Summer

Summer months in Hurghada come with the highest temperatures. However, this is also the time when you’ll be able to have the most fun because the resort is full of tourists, and there is something happening at every corner.

Best Diving Conditions: May

Hurghada is considered one of the premier diving spots in this part of the world. If diving is one of your top priorities, then consider visiting in May. The water is warm enough for a pleasant diving experience while the summer heat hasn’t yet arrived on the land.

Summer may not be the ideal time to visit Egypt, but what if it’s the only time you have on your hands to explore this magical country? If you’re heading to Egypt this season, here are a few useful tips that will help you make the best of your experience.

Summer Crowds

Even though summer is considered the off-season in Egypt, avoiding the crowds will still be impossible. Get ready for a bustling tourist scene, especially at major tourist sites such as Giza and Luxor.

Dealing With Hot Temperatures

It’s not uncommon for temperatures to soar up to a sizzling 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, so make sure to stay hydrated, and always wear sunscreen and a hat in an attempt to conquer the Egyptian summer heat.

Time Your Outings

Heat is almost impossible to avoid in the summer, but you can try to outsmart it. Escape the scorching midday sun by perfectly timing your sightseeing adventures—ideally early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the temperature is slightly cooler.

Dress Appropriately

We all want to wear our breeziest summer clothes when temperatures go through the roof, but Egypt might not be the best place to do this. As in all predominantly Muslim countries, you should try to cover your shoulders, chest, and knees to show appreciation for local people and their way of life.

A trip to Egypt is incomplete without a visit to the Great Pyramid of Giza, but this isn’t the only ancient pyramid that this country has in store. If you have enough time on your hands to explore Egypt beyond Giza, here are three magical pyramids that deserve a moment of your time.

Pyramid of Djoser

The Step Pyramid of Djoser is located on the ground of the ancient Egyptian city of Memphis, and it opened its doors to visitors in 2020, after a 14-year restoration. It’s the world’s largest cut-stone construction and it’s believed it’s one of the oldest structures of this kind.

Red Pyramid

The Dahshur necropolis in Cairo is home to several show-stopping pyramids, including this red limestone structure. The Red Pyramid owes its name to its reddish hue, but it didn’t always look this way—it was layered with white Tura limestone, and the red limestone beneath was uncovered after Tura limestone was taken to Cairo during the Middle Ages.

Bent Pyramid

Another impressive pyramid located at the Dahshur necropolis, Bent Pyramid is truly unique thanks to its irregular shape. This pyramid owes its bent appearance to the top section, which was built at a shallower angle to avoid the structure’s collapse.

When you are visiting a new country, you probably have an idea about the places you want to go to. However, things often get a bit more complicated when you are looking to visit a continent like Africa for the first time. With so many destinations to choose from,  zeroing in on one can be quite overwhelming. To help you out a bit, we decided to pick out the top three countries you should cross off the list first.

Egypt

Egypt is an easy choice as it offers so many different things to choose from. If you are a history nerd, then Cairo, Giza, and Alexandria are places to be. Check out the pyramids and ancient tombs, and see how human civilization evolved. But you can also get a relaxing vacation in Egypt. Simply head to Sharm El Sheikh and enjoy one of its many resorts.

Tanzania

If you want to see the natural wonders of Africa, consider Tanzania. The country’s Serengeti National Park offers one of the most impressive safari experiences in Africa, with the opportunity to see all the Big Five game animals. It is also home to Mount Kilimanjaro, the continent’s highest mountain that offers a spectacular climbing experience.

South Africa

South Africa offers an amazing tourist experience. If you want to explore museums and enjoy cultural offerings, book a trip to Cape Town. Kruger National Park will give you an opportunity to marvel at natural beauties and diverse wildlife, while Johannesburg has a bit of everything.

A visit to Egypt is incomplete if you don’t check out its capital Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza. Luckily, they’re located about five hours away from Hurghada, depending on the traffic, and you won’t struggle to find a local tour to take you there.

Giftun Island

If you’re in the mood for an amazing snorkeling and diving adventure while in Hurghada, Giftun Island is the place to be. Most people heading there choose to check out Orange Bay and spend their day enjoying an epic Red Sea adventure.

Desert Adventures

If you want to witness Egypt’s desert landscapes first-hand during your visit, you’ll have a wide range of tours to choose from, from jeep safaris and quad rides to Bedouin-style lunches.

Luxor

It takes around four hours from Hurghada to reach Luxor, and you’ll find many local companies offering tours to the heart of this city. Luxor is home to such iconic attractions as the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple, so you should definitely take that ride.
