Sydney enjoys some of its best weather of the year in winter, and you’ll find plenty to do in this Australian destination. From the Opera House to strolling along Bondi Beach, Sydney is just about the best Southern Hemisphere destination that you’ll encounter.
My top destination in South Africa is, without a doubt, Cape Town. Located in the shadow of Table Mountain, which features a cable car that takes you to the top, you will have a great time enjoying the best of this multicultural city in the Southern Hemisphere’s summer.
Looking to visit a destination a little more remote and off-the-beaten path? Easter Island is a great option for Southern Hemisphere summers. Here, you can appreciate the famous Moai carved heads as well as a huge variety of archeological sites related to the natives that once inhabited this Pacific island.

]]>The island, known as “Isla de la Pascua” in Spanish and “Rapa Nui” in the island’s native language, is a volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Here, the indigenous Polynesian inhabitants of the island lived for hundreds of years until it was discovered by Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen in 1722.
The exact date of arrival of the Polynesian natives to the island is unknown, although most studies suggest that it probably occurred in the 12th century.
One of the great mysteries of earth exists on Easter Island, which is the presence of Moai statues throughout the island.
Over 1,000 of these statues of human faces and bodies are found scattered throughout the island.
The Polynesian residents of the island completed these Moai, it is estimated, between 1250 and 1500 AD.
It remains unknown exactly how they were able to carve these massive figures, some of which are taller than 30 meters. Common wisdom suggests that they had religious and/or political importance.
If possible, be sure to visit this magical island and discover this curiosity for yourself!

]]>Around 100 km north of Puerto Natales is one of the most amazing natural areas in Chile, the Torres Del Paine National Park. Mountains, lakes, rivers, and glaciers, everything is beautifully packed here and ready for exploring.
Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) is located near the border with Bolivia, in the middle of the Atacama Desert. It got its name because it resembles the moon surface a lot.
Rapa Nui, or Easter Island, got its name because it was discovered on Easter Sunday in 1722. It’s officially a part of Chile but 3,500 km away from the mainland, so visiting it requires separate organization.
Financial, business, and cultural capital of the country, Santiago, has plenty of galleries, museums, restaurants, and stores.
When you’re in Chile, don’t miss the Lake District. It has many lakes, rivers, volcanoes, and waterfalls you can enjoy and take a break from daily life.
