Parque Central Complex

At 225 meters high, the duo of skyscrapers that form Parque Central Complex both rank as the highest buildings in all Venezuela. At the time of their building, they were hailed as the most important urban development in Latin America, and they still stand tall as one of the symbols of Caracas.

Torre de David

The third highest high-rise in the city after the twin towers of Parque Central Complex, Torre de David started building during the 90s, but it remains unfinished and abandoned to this day. Its future remains uncertain, but its rough exterior just adds to its charm and makes it more special.

Alejandro Otero Museum

Alejandro Otero Museum is one of those attractions that will leave you in awe with both its exterior and interior. It’s reminiscent of a glass-covered pyramid on the outside, but the real magic starts when you step in and see how extraordinary the glass paneling looks from the other side.

]]> Museums are always a good place to explore art and history of a new country you’re visiting, and if that country happens to be Venezuela, here’s a couple you should check out in its capital of Caracas.

The Museum of Fine Arts

If the neoclassical building of this museum isn’t enough to impress you, their collection of ceramics and ancient Egyptian art certainly will.

National Art Gallery

The National Art Gallery is located in close proximity to the previous museum, and it houses an impressive collection of works of art by Venezuelan artists.

Caracas Museum of Contemporary Art

Fans of modern art shouldn’t miss a visit to this museum, especially since it features the works of such artists as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Vasili Kandinski, and Andy Warhol.

Mis papás se conocieron en el museo de los niños. Si, entre esos colores, máquinas, y las miles de preguntas incesantes de chiquillos, allí se encontraron. Mi papá enseñaba sobre la electricidad, mi mamá la responsable del teclado de colores, y en el medio de ellos dos, toda la magia de ese lugar. Siempre pensé que hasta cierto punto, yo nací allí (o aunque sea la idea de mi), y desde que tengo memoria fantaseo con la idea de que quizás eso explica por qué los museos son el único lugar donde me siento segura o por qué nunca (en serio nunca) dejo de hacer preguntas. Hoy me encuentro con la noticia de su cierre y rememoro cada espacio y pared que se apaga, esas que guardan mis mejores recuerdos, los de ellos y probablemente los de cualquiera que esté leyendo esto. Y aunque no creo en el fin de nada, si creo en la transformación de todo. Por lo que sólo les digo que nos vemos pronto, en la misma calle, después del túnel oscuro, allí a la vuelta del teclado de colores. El lugar donde empezó esta historia.
