There are many cities in America that are considered to be popular by traditional standards and for very good reason. But then there are also many other cities in the country which fly under the radar and are just as pleasant. One of these cities is none other than Boulder, Colorado. Nestled right in the heart of North America, it’s quite an underrated and wonderful tourist destination, and here’s why.

Gorgeous Rocky Mountains

Boulder might not be the concrete jungle that you’ll find in a big metropolitan city such as Manhattan, but in return, it’s a naturally visual paradise. The Rocky Mountains are always in the background, and the city is filled with endless hikes and trails that allow you to view these mountains from beautiful vantage points.

Winter Sports Dreamland

Another benefit about Boulder in Colorado is that it’s pretty much in the hub of winter sports. If you’re a snowboarder or skier, you’ll be not so far away from some amazing slopes, not to mention the community of fellow skiers you’ll be able to meet.

Iconic Music Scene

Another great thing about Boulder is that it’s quite close to one of the most legendary music venues in the world: Red Rocks Amphitheater. Not only does this make for excellent acoustic live music experiences, but it also attracts some of the best artists in the world to want to come to play there.

February isn’t everyone’s favorite month. Christmas and New Years are over, but winter is still in full bloom. Everyone is anticipating the spring but there is still a little while to go. President’s Day is February 17 and since all federal jobs and schools are closed, here are some great places for the last weekend winter getaway.

Philadelphia, PA

President’s Day celebrates Washington and Lincoln’s birthdays and Philadelphia is a fitting place. Philly was the first capital of America and with historic places such as Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, it’s a great place to go with the family. Although the weather is still cold, there are plenty of indoor activities and restaurants in America’s 5th biggest city.

Boulder, CO

If you’re looking for one last ski trip of the winter then Boulder is the place. The cool, fast-growing college city is at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and is an amazing place to enjoy the amenities of the city while being close to ski resorts and nature. To top it off, it is much cheaper than nearby ski resorts and Boulder is a fun, affordable place for the entire family.

Berkshires, MA

If you don’t want to go too far from the east coast but are still looking for a nice getaway then the Berkshires is the perfect place. Known as a summer resort, the area is just as beautiful in the winter, but without the crowds. You can stay at the Blantyre, a huge Tudor Revival mansion with 220 acres of space. Skiing is less than an hour away and all of this is still a short drive from the big cities in the Northeast.
