Sky Tower is Auckland’s leading entertainment complex, and it offers everything from casinos and hotels to extreme sports to its visitors. It also happens to be home to some of the best restaurants and cafés in this city, and here are three you shouldn’t miss during your visit.

Orbit

Orbit offers a truly amazing menu of both local and international specialties, but that’s not the reason why so many tourists flock to this restaurant. Orbit is best known for offering 360-degree panoramic views of the city and it’s currently New Zealand’s only rotating restaurant.

Sky Café

If spending a fortune on a single meal simply isn’t your thing, how about enjoying the amazing views of Auckland while having a cup of coffee? That’s exactly the kind of experience you’ll find at Sky Café, but its menu also includes cheese, ice cream, and a wide range of snacks.

The Sugar Club

The Sugar Club may not be a revolving restaurant, but it still offers pretty amazing views from the 53rd floor of Sky Tower. It offers an epic dining experience with fine foods in a relaxed and chic atmosphere, and some of the best cocktails in the entire city.

Most people visiting New Zealand are there to explore the island’s beautiful nature, but its museums are also pretty impressive. Some of the very best are located in the country’s largest city known as Auckland, and here are three that deserve a spot on your travel itinerary.

Auckland War Memorial Museum

Often referred to simply as Auckland Museum, this cultural institution chronicles the rich history of New Zealand and its people. It’s located in a beautiful neoclassical building, and it features exhibits that focus on the island’s natural and military history.

MOTAT Museum of Transport and Technology

If a visit to a museum dedicated to transport and technology doesn’t sound like an adventure, it’s only because you’ve never been to this one. MOTAT covers 40 acres of land, filled with interactive exhibits that feature civilian and military aircraft, retro cars, and other vehicles.

New Zealand Maritime Museum

New Zealand wouldn’t be the same without its seafaring past, so it’s not surprising to see that there’s a museum in Auckland dedicated to the country’s maritime history. Located on Hobson Wharf, this museum features exhibitions that explore this part of the island’s past and even offers sailing trips on replica ships.

The Wilds is the latest Amazon series everyone is talking about, but its premise and the amazing young cast aren’t the only things that caught our eye. The filming locations in this teen drama are truly stunning, which isn’t much of a surprise since it was filmed in New Zealand.

The Wilds centers on a group of teens who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after their plane heading to Hawaii crashes in the middle of nowhere. The series, however, wasn’t filmed in Hawaii, and various locations across Auckland in New Zealand served as the setting.

Piha Beach

New Zealand is well-known for its black sand beaches, and one of them was heavily featured in The Wilds. Piha Beach, located around 40 kilometers west of Auckland, served as an amazing backdrop for this intriguing series and the iconic Lion Rock formation was visible in several scenes throughout the show.

Bethells Beach

According to IMDb, some of the scenes were filmed on Bethells Beach, another popular day-trip spot near Auckland. A couple of locations around the city were featured in the flashback scenes taking place before the girls got stuck on the island, including the West Wave Pool, Karaka Lakes Park, and the Auckland Girls’ Grammar School in Newton.

One of the main reasons why so many tourists want to visit Sky Tower is the amazing views you can get from its top. You can easily spot key landmarks, volcanoes, and other historical locations within the greater Auckland area once you’re 220 meters high above the ground.

Fine Dining

Sky Tower is home to several amazing restaurants, that offer the most stunning views you could possibly ask for. The Sugar Club and Sky Café come to mind, but 360-degree revolving restaurant The Orbit is the biggest hits with the tourists.

If you’re planning a trip to New Zealand one of these days, Auckland is already on your bucket list, but did you know that this city happens to be the home to some of the most colorful milkshakes you’ll ever get to taste?

Cereal Killa Café put the delicious Killashakes on the map, and they look just as quirky as they sound. Masterminds behind this unique café are promising their shakes will rock your world, and they’re certainly not over-selling them.

Their menu features some of the most colorful milkshakes we’ve ever stumbled upon, and they come in at least a dozen of amazing flavors. Caramel, strawberries, brownies or Nutella – no matter what your favorite sweet treat is, you’ll find it in one of their milkshakes.

Killashakes may be their signature product, but this café has so much more in store. Their menu offers many other specialties of contemporary New Zealand cuisine, and it’s a perfect spot for brunch or nice warm coffee with your friends.
