When it comes to flying, going through airport security can feel stressful, especially as the clock counts down to your flight. Fortunately, by signing up for TSA PreCheck, your security experience will become faster and less stressful than ever before. Here are ways that you can get TSA PreCheck for free, thereby optimizing your airport experience at no extra cost.

Get The Right Credit Card

Many credit cards actually offer a reimbursement for the application fee for TSA PreCheck. From cards with cheaper annual fees, such as the United Explorer Credit Card to cards with premium benefits such as the Mastercard Gold Credit Card, and even business credit cards including the Capital One Venture X Business Card.

Loyalty Programs

Some airline loyalty programs allow you to put your air miles toward the application fee for TSA PreCheck. These include the likes of United MileagePlus and IHG One Rewards. This way, you forego the application fee while also avoiding paying the fees for a new credit card if you don’t already have one.

Traveling With Kids

Depending on their age, you can bring your kids through TSA PreCheck with you so long as you have signed up, even if they are not subscribed. Children aged 12 years and under are permitted to join you in TSA PreCheck, while those aged 17 or under may be allowed if the TSA PreCheck indicator appears on their boarding pass.

As many travelers know, airlines and airport security are strict when it comes to monitoring passengers’ baggage and ensuring that they follow all travel guidelines. Given the many security concerns that exist the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) makes it their duty to ensure that security protocols are standardized and enforced. Still, some packing guidelines prove confusing to travelers. Here are some of the most common items that travelers ask the TSA about, as well as whether or not you can travel with them.

Razors

While razors are essential for keeping clean-shaven, the fact that they consist of a blade does pose a security risk. According to the TSA, however, some razors are permitted while others are not. Electric razors generally are allowed in carry-on bags, however, traditional blades generally must go into your checked baggage.

Deodorant

Given that deodorant can come in many forms, including spray, roll-on, and gel, some travellers are unsure if it is permitted because of liquid restrictions. Ultimately, the TSA explained that all deodorants are treated like liquids, so make sure that each bottle you bring in your carry-on bag meet liquid requirements. Otherwise, pack them in your checked bags.

Makeup

Solid and powder makeup don’t face any restrictions. Liquid makeup, however, follows the same guidelines as other liquids, so make sure they’re packed in bottles that meet liquid requirements.

Navigating airports can be an exhilarating experience, filled with anticipation and excitement for the adventures that lie ahead. However, amidst the hustle and bustle, one of the biggest concerns for travelers is the fear of losing their baggage. Losing your luggage can quickly turn a dream vacation into a nightmare, but fear not, fellow wanderers. We have compiled a comprehensive guide on how to safeguard your baggage in the airport.

Choose the Right Suitcase

Begin by choosing a sturdy and easily identifiable suitcase. Opt for a distinctive color or add personalized tags and accessories to make it stand out from the crowd. This simple step can greatly reduce the chances of your luggage being mistakenly taken by another traveler.

Label Your Bags Properly

Attach clear and durable luggage tags with your name, contact information, and destination details. This will enable airport staff to quickly identify and return your luggage in case of any mishaps.

Double Check

Always double-check that the airline staff attaches the correct destination tag to each of your bags. It’s crucial to verify that the tag matches your travel itinerary to avoid any mix-ups along the way.

Be Vigilant

As you make your way through the airport, keep a close eye on your belongings. Never leave your bags unattended, even for a moment. Utilize luggage carts or carry-on bags with wheels to ease the burden and ensure that you have full control of your belongings at all times.

Act Swiftly

In the unfortunate event that your luggage does go missing, act swiftly and report the incident to the airline’s lost and found department. Provide them with detailed descriptions and any identifying features of your bags. Most airlines have sophisticated tracking systems that can help locate and retrieve your belongings as quickly as possible.

If there is one place that is notorious for leaving you feeling dehydrated, it’s airplanes. The air in the cabin is far lower in humidity than we are used to, which can cause us to feel groggy and have the effects of jet lag hit much harder.

As you would imagine, drinking is needed to curb the dehydration. This can be in the form of water or a power drink filled with electrolytes.

But, as you know, the Transportation Security Authority (TSA) is super strict when it comes to which liquids you can take with you onboard.

“You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item,” reads the rule on the official website.

It often means that you cannot drink your favorite beverage during the flight
unless you use this clever hack.

While liquids are not permitted, the TSA has a different rule for frozen liquids.

“Frozen liquid items are allowed through the checkpoint as long as they are frozen solid when presented for screening.”

So, pop your drink in the freezer overnight and wait for it to thaw while in the air.

Staying hydrated is a key to good health, and it’s more crucial than ever during your travels. That’s why you should have a reusable water bottle by your side at all times, but things can get tricky when you’re flying and many people aren’t sure if they can take a water bottle through airport security.

What to Look Out For

Liquid rules for hand luggage are the reason why people aren’t 100% sure what to do with their water bottles. It’s common knowledge that containers containing liquid should be limited to the maximum size of 100, which basically means you can’t bring bottled water on a plane, but empty bottles are a different story.

Empty Bottles

Empty water bottles are allowed in both carry-on and checked bags. If you still have some water left in your bottle before going through security, simply drink it or pour it out. You can easily refill it post-security and use it to stay hydrated before your flight.

Your reusable water bottle will come in handy for the rest of your trip since you won’t have to buy bottled water at every turn. When choosing a bottle for your travels, make sure to pick a smaller model that easily fits inside your bag, isn’t too heavy, and doesn’t take too much space.

Nothing is worse than going to the airport and losing tons of time waiting to go through security to get to your flight.

Many a-day at the airport have been ruined by long wait times, rude security staff, and rules that just don’t make any sense.

Here are four tips that will help you get through airport security faster.

Get Behind Business Travelers

One easy hack for getting through security fast is to find the line with the most business travelers. These people tend to be more used to going through security and thus get through the line more quickly than families, for example.

Keep Your Electronics Accessible

https://www.instagram.com/p/BwZ691RBm-d/

In this day and age, you usually need to take out larger electronics such as laptops and tablets to get through security. Keep them in an accessible place to expedite the process.

Pack Your Liquids in a Transparent Bag

Liquids shouldn’t be thrown into your bag willy-nilly if you want to go quickly. Security scans usually ask for these liquids to be packed together in a plastic bag to facilitate the process.

Keep Calm

Finally, don’t panic! You’re more likely to forget to remove something or make a mistake if you’re stressed. Keeping calm will make your security experience way better.
