Have you ever seen a strawberry poison frog? If you are interested in science,  than you should consider visiting the California Academy of Science in San Francisco. Be prepared for lots of surprises while you explore this magical place.

Among the wonderful things you can see is a giant white crocodile. Once you pass that you will see a huge spherical glass ball – the Rainforest – an indoor experience where you walk around in the ‘company’ of blue, green and orange macaws freely flying near you among other smaller birds and wildlife.

But remarkable and delicate of all are the flocks of butterflies at the very top level of the Rain forest. The purple, blue and orange butterflies briskly fly by your head in flocks. Occasionally one would land on your shoulder and spread a magical feeling of relaxation. It’s the awesome world of the wild – where freedom is in the air.

On your way, you can wave at the most amazing and colorful jellyfish you’ve ever seen. They swim around with a whooshing sound effect that you can almost hear.

That incredible ecosystem is full of green-life, stunning colors, and extraordinary animals you can explore for hours.

In the pastoral Golden Gate Park, not far from the Fine Art Museum, Legion of Honor and adjacent to the Japanese Tea Garden, rises a twisted copper tower of the De Young Museum in San Francisco.

The twisting 144 foot (44 meters) tall tower was designed by Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron together with Fong + Chan. It re-opened in 2005. Once you’re on the observation level, you experience breathtaking 360 degrees sweeping views of the city, the Golden Gate, Marin Headlands and you can see as far as Coit Tower and Bay Bridge.

The De Young Museum is home to American Art, International Contemporary Art, African, Oceanic, Art of the Americas, and houses more than 13,000 textiles and costumes from around the world. It also holds the annual flower show called Bouquets of Art where floral designers from the Bay Area and beyond, draw inspiration from the art in the de Young’s collection to create awesome flower arrangements.

You can also have a light bite or full lunch at the museum full-service cafe with outdoor seating. Don’t miss the magnificent Osher sculpture garden just outside.

Wintertime, spring, summer or fall, dim sum at Yank Sing is the best you can get in San Francisco year-round.

As soon as you enter, you’re courteously welcomed with a warm smile and usually get a table within minutes, even when there’s a waiting list. The dining room seats over 30 tables at once. Several food servers with dim sum carts offer you over 60 dishes which are freshly made every day.

You can start with shrimp dim sum, red cabbage salad with candied walnuts, honey glazed BBQ pork buns, Peking duck, and a warm eggplant salad.

Shanghai Dumplings are a specialty at Yank Sing. These are dumplings filled with minced Kurobuta pork, scallion, and ginger wrapped and steamed in an aromatic broth.

The stuffed Crab Claw is to die for,  it’s a light and fluffy crab and shrimp mousse croquette encasing a whole snow crab claw,  and deep-fried. On the lighter side, the iceberg lettuce cup offers minced chicken, sauteed with diced water chestnuts, garnished with pine nuts, bamboo shoots, and spring onions.

If you are planning a trip to Chicago, you may want to consider these Two hot attractions that will make your visit great: the Chicago River Architectural Tour and the Lakefront Segway Tour.

Seated comfortably on a wide boat you can pick up the tour by the Chicago River on Michigan Avenue or by Navy Pier. You’ll explore Chicago’s breathtaking skyline, hear about early architectural techniques which were developed in Chicago nearly a century ago for building the foundations that can support very tall high-rises, like the Willis tower’s 110 floors.

There are several ticket vendors by the river from whom you also get the boats’ timetable. The tour lasts an hour and a half.

Segway on the Lakefront

Chicago’s historic buildings and landmarks can be viewed in a sporty fashion by taking the Lakefront Segway Tour.

Beginning in Millenium Park zipping all the way through to Grant Park, you’ll pass by the stunning Anish Kapoor Cloud Gate sculpture which locals call the ‘Jelly Bean’ and next to which almost everyone likes to take a selfie.

There’s also an evening Segway Tour for the romantics among you and the fireworks segway tour. These fun-filled segway tours last three hours.
