Most people think rain on their vacation would make it miserable, but many of us who see very little rain during their everyday life learned to appreciate the damp weather when touring cities. What could be better than an excuse to stop for a treat in a café during a romantic getaway? Here are a few places where that’s likely to happen:

Bergen, Norway

Take a walk around this picturesque city, and plan ahead to step into the many free museums and galleries open, many with on-site cafés, all with spectacular views.

Taipei, Taiwan

Filled with beautiful temples museums and theatres, it shouldn’t be hard to spend a mostly indoors day in the Taiwanese capital.

Juneau (Alaska), USA

Plan your visits in the home of the Alaskan Brewery and Amalga Distiller, and if the rain persists, pop into the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery for a very local tourist experience.

Cologne, Germany

Build a tour day and visit a few of the many cathedrals in Cologne, including the main cathedral in the city, as well as Gross St. Martin, and the Shrine of the Three Kings. If you need a break, drop into the Cologne Chocolate Museum.
