What to Do
Since Wellington is a coastal city, you have to check out the Wellington Waterfront. Along the water, you will see loads of cafes, restaurants, and shops, and it’s also just a nice place to talk a stroll. Also, this is the spot where a lot of cultural and municipal events happen, like Chinese New Year, fireworks and more!
Wellington, the cutest little capital of NZ! I used to walk around the waterfront aalll the time on my lunch breaks. . Fun fact, I used to work in the pinky-blue tall building in the background. It's the tallest building in Wellington (which isn't actually that tall!). . I lived in Wellington for four years before I moved to Germany in 2015 where I fell into the world of travel blogging. . At first it was just for fun but it grew into a huge passion of mine and when I discovered you could make a full time job out of it… well I went for it and I haven't looked back! . I'm so grateful to call it my job and for all the amazing opportunities it has lead to. It takes years of hard work and constant dedication though, it definitely doesn't fall into your lap. . I can't say I miss the 8-5 office job although I spend just as long at my computer most days! . I forgot to share at the time as I was in Europe but I recently hit 1 million page views on my blog which I'm super proud of! Especially since it had just past the two year mark. . I hope everyone is having a lovely and relaxing weekend. Two sleeps for me until Fiji! 
One of the most famous attractions in Wellington is the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum, which is the New Zealand national museum that covers an array of topics. It’s an art, history, and science museum, with so many interactive and fascinating exhibits that it definitely cannot be missed. There you can also learn about the indigenous Maori people, which is a crucial part of being on colonized land.
If you want to learn more about the history of Wellington, the Wellington Museum has you covered! It’s located at the Wellington waterfront so you can stop in and learn more about the city in a beautiful 19th-century colonial building! Best, of all, admission is free.
Beach bums rejoice in Wellington where there are enough beaches to satisfy anyone’s need for relaxation. The closest beach to the downtown area is called Oriental Bay and it’s the perfect place to chill, swim, or just take a walk while the sun is setting!
One of the most unique places in Wellington is called Zealandia, an ecosanctuary. It’s part zoo part conservation site where not only animals are being protected but also natural waterways. There is no other places like Zealandia in the world, so you have to make it a priority!
