For anyone visiting the famous Victoria Falls, Livingstone is an almost sure stop. It is the closest city to the falls on the Zambia side, and almost all hotels and tours are there. Besides for seeing the falls, there are many other things to do as well in this unique tourist-oriented town:

Zambezi River Rafting:

Not only do the falls thunder down at volumes and speeds second to none, but this also creates incredible whitewater rafting below the falls. Known as the best whitewater rafting in the world, this activity is not for the faint of heart. With tons of class V rapids, you are guaranteed a wild and bumpy ride down the Zambezi!

Victoria Falls Bungee Jump:

What better way is there to experience one of the seven wonders of the world than jumping 364 feet off a bridge with a view of the falls and mist as you hang upside down? While this is also not for the faint of heart, it is a great adrenaline rush and one of the coolest ways to experience the power of the Zambezi River. The best part is that you come out on the Zimbabwe side so you can say you bungee jumped into another country!

Walk With Lions:

Ever dreamed of walking with the kings of the jungle? You can do that as well in Livingstone. You can take a short walk with different sized lions and interact with them up close. While this may sound scary, there are 3 professional lion trainers with you and they will tell you exactly what to do and how to interact. Seeing these beasts from afar is incredible but standing next to one is even cooler!

In addition, there are museums, restaurants, and other activities such as fishing, boating, and hiking. There are also cheaper accommodation options such as hostels and campsites so no matter what your budget is, there are plenty of activities in this great city close to Victoria Falls.

Did you know that the world’s largest cascade of falling water is located at Victoria Falls between Zambia and Zimbabwe?

Well, Iguazu Falls and Niagara Falls might be more famous and well-known, but there isn’t a bigger waterfall that you can visit than Victoria Falls.

Fed by the Zambezi River, during the rainy season, the sheet of water that falls at Victoria Falls is unrivaled in the world. It isn’t the tallest nor the widest waterfall in the world, but its overall volume is the largest. It’s over a mile wide and 350 feet tall, however, so it’s certainly a massive sight to see.

Visitors that go to Victoria Falls can see the falls from the perspective of both African countries that house it.

On the Zambian side, you can visit the Knife’s Edge Bridge, which provides a spectacular viewpoint of the falls and also bathes you in mist from the falls. Also, here is the location of Devil’s Pool, a place where daring visitors can jump into the water just before the fall. The geology of the rocks of these natural pools prevents visitors from cascading over the edge.

The Zimbabwean side is generally considered to have the better viewpoints in of the two countries. Also, the Zimbabwean town of Victoria Falls is also considered to have better lodging options and other attractions for visitors. The Zimbabwean side is the gateway to visit the falls.

Try to go in spring or early summer if you can, when the falls are roaring at full capacity. You’ll never forget this experience.
