Paris is the first place that comes to mind when someone mentions the Louvre, but it’s not the only city in the world with a museum that has this name. Abu Dhabi is home to its own Louvre Museum, but they’re two entirely separate museums with their own vision and identity.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi may not be as iconic as the original, but it’s an important cultural institution in this corner of the world. It’s the largest art museum in the Arabian peninsula, and its main mission is to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western art by showcasing art from all around the world.

This impressive museum covers 24,000 square meters with 35,000 works of art on its premises. The building itself was designed by the famed architect Jean Nouvel before opening its doors to visitors in 2017. The museum is instantly recognizable thanks to its huge, silvery dome composed of 7,850 stars, which appears to be floating above the rest of the museum city.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is easily accessible because it’s the main attraction of the Saadiyat Island Cultural District. It’s open to visitors between 10 am and 6:30 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, and you should make sure to book the tickets in advance and set aside at least two hours for exploration.

Dubai is one of the gems of the United Arab Emirates. It is full of world-class restaurants, hotels, and one very special bar. The Galaxy Bar is Dubai’s first bar to be awarded Campari’s “One to watch” award. The bar first opened its doors in February of 2019, and has set the mixology world aflame.

What makes it so special?

The Galaxy Bar was designed to showcase a Greek liquor called House of Metaxa. This liquor is known for its exclusivity, as it has been produced in small batches since 1888. Every cocktail is created with Metaxa and crafted to showcase the flavor along with other elements that are seasonal.

In addition to the amazing cocktails, they regularly host DJs from around the world.

The Ambiance

While most bars offer muted lighting and sultry music, the Galaxy Bar is unlike any other. Marble bar tops, plush velvet seats, and an Art Deco theme are what makes this place truly special. If you want to feel like you have entered the era of Great Gatsby, then this is one bar you will not want to miss in Dubai. Just don’t forget to dress for the occasion, and wear your most stylish outfit.

Dubai is one of the most popular holiday destinations and in 2021, the city will have tons of new openings, events, and festivals. With 2020, delaying many projects, tons of fun things are happening in the city this coming year and these are the ones worth checking out.

Expo 2020 Dubai

The six-month-long event was supposed to take place in October 2020, but it’s been moved and will take place from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. The theme is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future and it will examine Dubai’s place in the world.

Dubai Shopping Festival

Shoppers have to check out the Dubai Shopping Festival which starts December 17, 2020 and ends January 30, 2021. In addition to shopping, the event includes fireworks, raffles, and live entertainment.

Art Dubai

The best place to discover artists and collections is at the 14th edition of Art Dubai. Many galleries participate in the March event and there’s also year-round programming.

Museum of the Future

This museum is going to be one of the most recognizable buildings in Dubai and it’s dedicated to innovation and science. The building is designed by Shaun Killa and it’s in the shape of a turus with the roundness representing the earth and sky and the empty middle symbolizing the unknown. There’s still not an opening date, but it’s in the final stages of construction.

Ain Dubai

The world’s largest Ferris wheel opened in October 2020 and it stands at 689 feet tall. It can hold up to 40 people and passengers can see the Dubai skyline, Burj Khalifa, and Palm Jumeirah.
