If you’re a beginner/intermediate level hiker, look for trails that range from between six to ten miles. If you are used to walking you can of course do much more. But if you are unsure, stick to those distances.
Circular
If you’re finding a hiking route, really you want a circular walk. This means that you will end where you began. This is super convenient as you can drive to your destination and then easily drive away. It also feels nicer.
Scenery
You want to trace out a route that is packed full of beautiful scenery. If you like woodland you can mark out a trail in the forest. If you like mountains take a mountain route. Some of the best hiking trails have a mix of views and terrains.
