Do you ever look at images of people dressing in their best to board a flight in the 1950s and wish that we all took traveling more seriously nowadays? While prioritizing comfort is no bad thing, it can feel exciting to dress up just a little bit when you’re about to jet off on holiday. Luckily, with some carefully chosen travel accessories, you can achieve a chic, sophisticated look without having to dress in a full suit or fifties style dress. Check out these stunning travel accessories which can bring a little je-ne-sais-quoi to your airport wear.

Passport Holder

How many of us shove our passport in our jeans pocket, only to forget where we’ve put it and stage a panicked search at the departures gate? With a chic passport holder, you’ll easily be able to find your passport in your bag, plus you can impress everyone who asks to see it with your impeccable taste and style.

Compact Mirror

This sophisticated travel accessory is also seriously useful. While a front-facing phone camera can help you do your makeup or check your look, a compact mirror offers far more detail and clarity. For a chic vibe, opt for a vintage-style metal mirror—a high-quality one should close with a satisfying click.

Silk Scarf

Travel with a silk scarf and you have a ready-made eye mask, a chic hair protector, an extra layer for warmth, and even a mini pillow in an emergency. A silk scarf can also elevate any look, so even when you’re going through security in your joggers, you can enjoy traveling in style.

Traveling solo can be a transformative and enriching experience, offering the freedom to explore new destinations on your own terms. Whether you’re a seasoned solo traveler or embarking on your first solo adventure, here are three essential tips to make the most of your journey.

Embrace Flexibility and Spontaneity

One of the greatest advantages of solo travel is the freedom to follow your instincts and change plans at a moment’s notice. Embrace spontaneity by allowing yourself to wander off the beaten path, discover hidden gems, and interact with locals. Keep your itinerary flexible, leaving room for unexpected adventures and serendipitous encounters. Whether it’s joining a group tour, trying new cuisines, or simply getting lost in a new city, embracing flexibility will enhance your solo travel experience and open doors to unforgettable moments.

Prioritize Safety and Awareness

While solo travel offers unparalleled freedom, it’s essential to prioritize your safety and well-being. Before embarking on your journey, research your destination thoroughly, familiarizing yourself with local customs, laws, and potential safety concerns. Stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings, especially in unfamiliar or crowded areas. Trust your instincts and avoid risky situations, such as walking alone late at night or accepting drinks from strangers. Keep important documents and valuables secure, and consider sharing your itinerary with a trusted friend or family member. By prioritizing safety and awareness, you can enjoy your solo adventure with peace of mind.

Connect With Other Travelers

Solo travel doesn’t mean you have to be alone. Take advantage of opportunities to connect with fellow travelers and locals, whether it’s striking up a conversation in a hostel common area, joining a guided tour, or participating in a local cultural activity. Use social media platforms or travel forums to connect with like-minded individuals and seek recommendations from experienced solo travelers. Engaging with others not only provides valuable insights and companionship but also enriches your travel experience by fostering meaningful connections and cultural exchange.

Traveling in South America on a budget is not only possible but also incredibly rewarding. It can offer budget-conscious travelers the chance to explore vibrant cities, stunning landscapes, and rich cultural heritage without breaking the bank. Here are three tips for traveling in South America on a budget.

Take Advantage Of Affordable Accommodation Options

One of the biggest expenses while traveling is accommodation, but South America offers a variety of budget-friendly options. Hostels are abundant throughout the continent and provide affordable dormitory-style rooms or private rooms at a fraction of the cost of hotels. Many hostels also offer communal kitchens where you can prepare your meals, further saving money on dining expenses. Additionally, consider alternative accommodations such as guesthouses, homestays, or camping in national parks for a more budget-friendly experience.

Opt For Budget-Friendly Transportation

Getting around South America doesn’t have to be expensive, thanks to the region’s extensive network of affordable transportation options. Buses are a popular and economical way to travel between cities and countries, with comfortable long-distance buses offering overnight journeys to save on accommodation costs. In some countries, such as Peru and Bolivia, local buses and colectivos (shared taxis) provide inexpensive transportation within cities and rural areas. For longer journeys, consider booking flights with budget airlines or taking advantage of special deals and promotions to save on airfare.

Embrace Street Food And Local Markets

Sampling the local cuisine is an essential part of any travel experience, and South America offers a wealth of delicious and affordable street food and market fare. From empanadas and arepas to ceviche and churrasco, street food vendors and market stalls serve up a diverse array of mouthwatering dishes at budget-friendly prices. Eating at local markets not only saves money but also allows you to immerse yourself in the vibrant culinary culture of South America. Be sure to also stock up on fresh fruits, vegetables, and snacks from local markets to save on dining expenses while exploring the region.

Canada really is a dream destination, with unbeatable natural panoramas, friendly locals, and some of the coolest cities in the world. Of these cities, Montreal is perhaps the most romantic and charming. The largest city in Québec, Montreal offers a little something for everyone. From relaxing riverside walks to one of the most exciting festival seasons globally, read on for tips and inspiration so you can plan your next trip to this fantastic city.

Summer Festivals

Throughout the summer months, Montreal hosts a huge array of brilliant arts, dance, music, film, and theatre events as part of its summer festival scheduling. Many of these events are free and are designed to showcase the creativity and vitality of the city. If you like the sound of bustling streets, thrilled crowds, and brilliant drama, book your trip for the summer months to ensure you don’t miss the festivals.

Street Food

Montreal is a city that takes its food very seriously. If you are seeking fine dining in a traditional setting, you will be spoilt for choice, but the city also does street food incredibly well. Park Life

At the center of the city is Mount Royal Park, a beautiful park with a seriously steep climb. If you fancy the challenge, climb to the top and be rewarded with stunning views across the city. There is a café at the top, so you can treat yourself after your exertions.

Traveling this past year has been next to impossible, prompting us to be more resourceful with our time-off. But as we look forward to a healthier future, it’s time to reexamine our old habits, both as locals and as citizens of the world. Travel blogger Alison Abbott has long been advocating for a more sustainable, eco-friendly, lifestyle. The face behind travel blog Green with Renvy, her catchphrase is: “Sharing the World of Responsible Travel One Trip at a Time”.

Based between Boston and Nantucket, Abbott is an avid traveler and is enthusiastic about keeping it local whether at home or abroad. According to Abbott, her goal with her platform is to inspire others to take a step out of their comfort zone and consider alternative destinations and adventures.

“Nothing could make me happier than hearing from a reader who has arranged travel plans to stay in an eco-friendly hotel that I recently recommended,” she notes on her website, explaining that she firmly believes that as we become better traveled and more mindful, culturally aware citizens of the globe, the world becomes a better place.

“The more I travel, the more I learn to be flexible and adapt,” she further shared her experiences in a recent interview with Misadventures with Andi. “The world has become such a small place, I hope to highlight destinations that might not be on everyone’s radar. Meeting and learning from others around the globe develops a much deeper understanding and I truly think education promotes peace and tolerance.”

Abbott puts her money where her mouth is. Her blog includes a dedicated section for “green living” where she shares her thoughts about subjects as varied as sustainable wine, healthy snacks, and eco-friendly travel gifts.

When trying to trace back her love of travel, Abbott jokes that she probably became a traveler in her mother’s womb. “I was conceived in Japan and long before I knew that fact, I taught myself Japanese phrases and to count in the language,” she explains.

“I wanted to learn all I could about the country. Seriously though, in my days before travel writing, I started and built a clothing and design business that manufactured in India and the Philippines. It was during that time I fell and love with travel and knew it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”

Do you remember what it was like to travel? It seems like we haven’t traveled in forever. And to be honest, now that we’re able to travel once again, we’re a bit rusty. We’ve forgotten how to pack a suitcase, wake up in different time zones, and deal with security. But, we’ve got you covered. Here are three ways to make returning to travel effortless.

Masks are Mandatory

Regardless of if your vaccinated or not, masks are required at the airport and on the plane. And in some countries, masks are still mandated. Make sure you pack masks that are comfortable for the long flight and you have enough for your vacation.

Don’t Forget About Sleep

Keep yourself on a sleep schedule during the duration of your travels so you can make the most of all of the days and nights of your vacation. You don’t want to be sleep-deprived or jet-lagged while you’re vacationing.

Pack Smart

Since you haven’t packed a suitcase in a while, don’t go overboard. Plan out your outfits ahead of time and make a list of everything you want to pack including clothes, beauty products, chargers, electronics, and documents.

We get it, you’re sick of staying at home after a really long pandemic and you’re aching to travel the world this summer. In theory, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t, but hear us out. You may be better off waiting till the fall of 2021 to travel instead of the summer, and here are a couple of reasons why.

The Pandemic Still Isn’t Over

As much as people would love to put the coronavirus in our rearview, unfortunately it’s still a thing. Yes, there are vaccines now and yes, countries are opening up their borders once more. But why not be on the safe side and wait it out just a little bit more? After all, chances are other people won’t do the same, which brings us to our next point…

It’ll Be Packed

The summer is generally a heavily packed season when it comes to tourism, and now add to that a generation of travelers who’ve been forced to stay at home for a year. Things are going to be pretty hectic, and given the last reason we gave, it probably wouldn’t hurt to avoid crowds if you can help it. There will plenty of opportunity to discover countless locations in October or November, and it’ll be cheaper and less crowded.

Traveling around the world has never been as popular as it is today. And if you take the pandemic out of the equation, it’s also never been easier. In fact, it’s gotten so easy to backpack around the world that many people do it alone. If this is something that interests you but you never managed to pull the trigger, here are three reasons why traveling alone is awesome.

Overcoming Fear

If you don’t want to travel alone for reasons that have to do with fear, then that might be all the more reason for you to do it. It’ll be a great opportunity for you to gain more confidence in yourself and overcome that particular hurdle in the process.

Learn More About Yourself

When you travel by yourself, you no longer feel shackled by the pressures of people around you. You can literally be whoever you want—and when you have that freedom, you might just discover new things about yourself.

Connect With The World

Traveling is a great way to connect with the outside world. You meet new people, you explore different cultures, and eat interesting new cuisines. This is obviously something you can do when traveling with others too, but when you do it alone it resonates on a different level.

While many of us have finally returned to traveling following the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak earlier this year, there are some precautions and safety tips that we should all keep in mind while venturing out.

A number of risky activities can be what gets a traveler ill while on vacation, and it’s important to remember not to do the following things if you want to travel in a responsible and safe way.

Traveling by Bus

If at all possible, traveling by bus is something that should be avoided during the ongoing global pandemic. The lack of ventilation and close quarters in this transportation option makes it a risky choice for travelers, who should try opting for safer methods like flying or driving.

Not Wearing a Mask

No matter where you are, unless it’s a place where you’re alone by yourself or with the members of your traveling party, you should always wear a mask if there’s any chance that you’ll happen upon other people. This keeps both yourself and the population at large safe.

Forgetting to Sanitize

Sanitizing your hands and the environment that you come into contact with should be a priority during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and that doesn’t change when it comes to travel. Use hand sanitizer as much as you can on your hands, and be sure to sanitize and disinfect other things that you touch like your mobile phone and your tray table on a plane.

Choose from fresh lobster rolls, classic poutines (a Canadian dish that combines French fries and cheese curds with a savory brown gravy), and the best burgers you’ve ever tasted.

Park Life

At the center of the city is Mount Royal Park, a beautiful park with a seriously steep climb. If you fancy the challenge, climb to the top and be rewarded with stunning views across the city. There is a café at the top, so you can treat yourself after your exertions.

This is just a snapshot of what you can do when visiting Montreal. From cool modern architecture to scenic river cruises to thrilling nightlife, the city will reward visitors with its fantastic sights, tastes, and experiences. Whether you’re using Montreal as a stepping-stone into Québec province, or staying within the city, book your next trip to this Canadian and you won’t be disappointed.
