Gotham Comedy Club has a unique vibe. It is uniquely decorated and stages some of the best comedians in New York City. Jerry Seinfeld often drops by to practice his new material.

Comedy Cellar

Located in MacDougal Street, the Comedy Cellar is a classic comedy club with a low ceiling and excellent lineup. You’ll catch some of the city’s best comedians and surprise guests like Amy Schumer often turn up unannounced to perform a set.

Carolines

Carolines on Broadway is a larger club with about 300 seats. It showcases a whole array of talented comedians and headlining at Carolines is a major deal for comedians. Expect real talent.

The Knitting Factory

The Knitting Factory is located in Williamsburg. The Sunday night show is a great place to catch pro comics perform a 15 minute set on the mic. On other nights, you can catch live music.

New York City is notoriously expensive. Fortunately, there are a lot of great activities in the city which won’t cost you a thing. Here are some of our favorites.

Catch a Shakespeare Play In The Park

Over summer, public performances of Shakespeare plays are put on in Central Park. Donations are welcome but you won’t be expected to pay anything you can’t afford.

Watch Buskers in Central Park

Alternatively, you can take a stroll through Central Park, admire the scenery, play with turtles and listen to the array of talented buskers who perform around the park daily.

Take the Staten Island Ferry

The Staten Island Ferry is completely free and offers incredible views of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

Walk Brooklyn Bridge

Walking across Brooklyn Bridge is a must in New York. The views are amazing and the architecture of the bridge itself is spectacular.

Walk The Highline

The Highline begins in the meatpacking district and is full of remarkable photo opps.

Visit The Aquarium

On Wednesdays, you can visit the aquarium for free after 3 pm. Be sure to check out the shark tanks and live shows.

Watch a Light Show at Times Square

Every evening at 11:57 pm, the billboards in Times Square synchronize to display a fantastic art exhibit.

Go to a Museum

Most museums offer a free day once a month. Some offer free visits weekly and others are free all year round.

Check Out Vintage Shops In Williamsburg (or East Village)

If you like thrift stores, Williamsburg in Brooklyn and the East Village have a great selection of vintage shops. You don’t have to buy anything to have a browse.

Head to The Top of The Chrysler Building

The Chrysler Building is the highest building of the New York Skyline. Surprisingly, climbing to the top is totally free and offers the best view of the city.
