Toronto, Canada probably isn’t the first place you think of when someone mentions a fun day at the beach, but maybe it should be. It’s home to several beaches and waterfront parks, and none of them is more picture-perfect than Sugar Beach.

Best known for its ornamental lighting, pink umbrellas, and white Muskoka chairs, Sugar Beach is one of Toronto’s most Instagram-friendly spots. It didn’t get this name because it looks like a sweet, cotton candy paradise—its name actually references the nearby Redpath Sugar’s refinery.

If you’re looking forward to a swim in Lake Ontario during your visit to Sugar Beach, you’re up for a disappointment. This beach primarily functions as a waterfront public space for relaxation and social activities, but watersports are not encouraged.

That shouldn’t stop you from having the time of your life at Sugar Beach. It’s a perfect place to sit back and relax while enjoying beautiful views of Lake Ontario and attend some of the local events and festivals, including the Sail-In Cinema and Wine and Spirit Festival.
