“Hotlanta” as it is called thanks to the sweltering summer heat, is the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr. The city played an important role in the Civil Rights movement and therefore a visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is only fitting.
In the heart of downtown lies the famous Centennial Olympic Park, the site of the 1996 Olympic Games. The Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park are both beautiful places in their own right and host many concerts, shows, and events in the summer.
In addition, “The new capital of the South” has some great southern food. Southern BBQ’s, fried chicken, and all sorts of pies are just some of the southern variety available throughout the city.
If you have a stopover in Atlanta it’s worth it to stretch your legs in the city!

TAP Portugal offers stopovers in Lisbon on the way to a variety of European destinations. This beautiful Portuguese capital city is cheap and full of interesting things to do. What’s best is that the weather is almost always good.
Flying with Emirates or Etihad and heading to Asia? There’s a good chance that you can make a stopover in Dubai, one of the world’s most unique and futuristic cities, on the way to your final destination.
Tokyo is another fantastic place to make a stopover. Japan’s capital is a foodie paradise that is full of Buddhist monuments and a fantastic mix of the futuristic and the traditional. It’s a great option for trips to Southeast Asia.
