The largest city on the Japanese island of Hokkaido is home to many quirky attractions you can’t find anywhere else, and these three are among its very best.

Sapporo Clock Tower

It’s pretty rare for a clock tower to be one of the city’s major tourist attractions, but that’s the case in Sapporo. Located in the very heart of the city, this iconic wooden clock tower doesn’t only show time but also houses a museum on the city’s history.

Sapporo Beer Museum

Beer lovers will feel right at home in Sapporo because this city happens to have its own beer museum. It opened its doors on the grounds of an old sugar factory back in 1987 and it covers three floors, filled with beer bottles, signs, posters, brewing instruments, and other beer-related artifacts.

Moerenuma Park

Surprisingly enough, Sapporo’s biggest wonder of modern design isn’t any of its buildings, but this public park. Designed by Isamu Noguchi to represent a “single unified piece of sculpture”, Moerenuma is filled with many interesting structures and objects that make it worth a visit.
