]]>Hikers have been rocking these velcro strapped sandals since they first hit the market in 1984. A river guide is credited with their creation. After getting tired of watching their sandals float away every time they fell in the water, they decided to velcro their flips to their feet. From there the Tevas we know and love today were born.
Another excellent option is Chacos. These were developed in 1989 by a rafting guide, who had a similar problem —floating sandals. Instead of velcro, they developed a system that tightens nylon bands to hold the sandals to your feet. These are slightly harder to get on and off than Tevas, but an excellent option as they offer a more cushioned sole.
