Rome wasn’t built in a day, but all it takes is a day to appreciate just how spectacular the Italian capital really is. Here is a look at some of the most magnificent buildings in the city.

The Colosseum

Built around 70-80 AD, the Roman amphitheater is one of the most iconic landmarks in the entire world. You don’t need to step inside to witness the magnificent architecture of Rome’s most popular attraction.

Castel Santā€™Angelo

Castel Santā€™Angelo is an impressive castle located near Vatican City. It was constructed almost two thousand years ago and still stands tall and proud today.

Pantheon

The Pantheon is as spectacular on the inside as it is on the outside. It is free to enter and the decorated dome gives the impression of looking up at heaven.

Trevi Fountain

It may not technically be a building, but the Trevi Fountain is an incredible structure that is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists a year. In fact, over a million euros in coins are thrown into the fountain by tourists.

The Wedding Cake

“The Wedding Cake” is less popular among historians and locals as it was built using materials from other ancient buildings that were torn down. Still, it is hard to deny that the structure is magnificent.

Pyramid of Cestius

We are not really sure why it is there, but you can visit an authentic ancient pyramid in the Ostiense district. It was built over 2,000 years ago and stands proud today.
