Willard Asylum, New York State

Just the thought of what was going within the walls of an asylum can make you shiver. However, The Willard Asylum in Willard, New York opened his doors in 1869 in order to help people who were incapable of taking care of themselves. The first admitted patient was a woman called Mary Rote, diagnosed as “demented and deformed.” The asylum shuttered his doors in 1995, after 126 years of working. Except creepy, abandoned rooms, the most interesting things are dusty suitcases full of memories, brought by patients.
