Thanks to the consistent efforts of neighborhood residents and the City of New York, and following years of planning, the High Line finally opened in 2009. Today, the nearly demolished historic rail is a public park that’s part urban playground, part outdoor art gallery, and fully awesome.
The High Line stretches from Hudson Yards to the north of Chelsea, and no worries, getting there is pretty simple! Hop on the 1 or C train to 23rd Street and walk up to Tenth Avenue. Once you hit the High Line, prepare for a 30-minute stroll filled with wildflowers, lush greenery, and breathtaking views of the NYC skyline.
Now, if you’re worried about the climb, fear not, as elevators are scattered throughout the park. Plus, there’s park-level access at 30th Street near Hudson Yards, so, no need to stress about finding the entrance.
