As wonderful and exciting as traveling is, there are some fears that come with it. One of the biggest worries is that you’ll be wandering off into a foreign land where you’re vulnerable to all sorts of strangers around you—and sometimes, those strangers can be comprised of crooks trying to steal your valuables. Luckily, there are ways to ensure that your money, passports, and credit cards will be protected as much as possible.

Money Belts

We see no point in wasting any time. The money belt is by far the safest way to protect your valuables when you’re on the go. By the way, don’t confuse the money belt with a fanny pack. A fanny pack wraps around your hips and can be seen on the OUTSIDE of your shirt. A money belt is thin, wraps tightly around your stomach, and is hidden to all observers who walk by you. Your shirt, sweatshirt, and backpack will be covering it, so people will have a hard time stealing anything from it.

Safes and Lockers

When you’re in your hotel room, you may see a safe, and that’s not for show. The safe is there so that you can store your valuables in there, and we highly recommend you do so. If you’re staying at a hostel that doesn’t have a safe, they usually have lockers available that you can store valuables in.
