]]> One of the nicest feeling when going on vacation in old European cities is when we feel we get to know the city and learn its history through being in it, rather than having to read about it. A great way to accomplish this is by picking a hotel with some history so that even when we sleep, we’re experiencing our destination. History

The hotel dates back to 1925 and is renowned for its Art Noveau architecture. It was originally designed as a place to stay for passengers of the famous Orient Express train, and so the hotel quickly became a social center.

These secret passageways can be found in a few cities around France but are most notable in Lyon, particularly in the old city. There are about 40 of these passageways open to the public, make an adventure out of looking for them or take one of the many guided tours available.
